Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Celebrates Promotions and Awards

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office recognized the men and women within the department for their commitment to public safety.  

The Promotions and Awards Ceremony was held at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy, on Thursday, July 6, 2023.  

Lieutenant William Sparks began with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in September of 2008 as a deputy assigned to the Patrol Division. From 2009 – 2019, he was an Honor Guard team leader, training officer and assistant commander, and from 2009 – 2022, he was a member of SWAT. On January 13, 2018, Sparks was promoted to Sergeant in Patrol, and on May 22, 2023, he was promoted to Lieutenant of the Detention Division. Lt. William Sparks was pinned by his father, Jimmy Sparks. 

After serving four years in the US Army, Lieutenant Taylor Rollins was hired by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in February of 2007 as a paid Cadet. Upon graduating from the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy, he received the Top Gun Award and was assigned to the Patrol Division. In 2008, Rollins joined the SWAT team and has continued to serve as a member of SWAT. In 2013, he was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to the Detention Division. In 2018 Rollins was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division and in 2021, he was assigned back to the Patrol Division. Lt. Rollins was promoted to Lieutenant and is currently working in the Detention Division. Lt. Rollins was pinned by his wife Tabitha Rollins.

Sergeant David Hernandez has been with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office for seven years. He began his career with FBCSO as a correctional officer. While working full-time as a Detention Officer, Hernandez attended the police academy. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the Patrol Division. Sgt. Hernandez is currently a member of the Honor Guard. Sergeant Hernandez was pinned by his wife Sandra Hernandez.

Sergeant Zachary Phillips has worked in law enforcement for nearly a decade. He was sponsored to attend the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy in 2017, Class 34. Prior to attending the academy, Phillips began working in the Fort Bend County Detention Division in 2014. Sgt. Phillips attended Sam Houston State University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Sgt. Phillips entered law enforcement to help the people of Fort Bend County and continues to look for new opportunities to do that every day. Sgt. Phillips was to be pinned by his wife, Carolina Phillips, however due to their son being sick, he was pinned by Sergeant Casey Schmidt.

During the ceremony, various divisions recognized personnel who went above and beyond in their role within the department.

“Seeing family and friends come together to recognize and celebrate their loved one is a pleasure,” said Sheriff Eric Fagan. “The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is fortunate to have such dedicated and hardworking individuals serving our community.”
