Bridgeland HS Symphony Orchestra to Perform at Midwest Clinic in Chicago
The Bridgeland High School Symphony Orchestra has been selected to perform at the 77th annual Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic on Dec. 20-22 in Chicago.
The prestigious clinic, held annually in Chicago, is the world’s largest music convention, bringing together musicians, directors, conductors and music educators. Student performers and ensembles must complete a meticulous application process, including submitting recordings, videos, letters of recommendation and a resume. The Bridgeland Symphony Orchestra is one of three high school full orchestras selected to perform at the clinic.
“The invitation to perform at the Midwest Clinic comes from a rigorous application process,” said John Morrison, CFISD director of fine arts. “CFISD is always proud to hear that a group will represent our district on the international stage in Chicago. The Bridgeland Symphony Orchestra will be a fine representative this year of the music programs in CFISD.”
The 76-member full orchestra held a Midwest Clinic preview concert at the CFISD Visual and Performing Arts Center on Dec. 10. The concert featured nine different selections, ranging from music fromHome Alone to selections by Tchaikovsky.
