Williamsburg Settlement Announces September 2026 Yard of the Month Winner
Congratulations to Dawn Kemp of 22407 Vobe Court, September’s Yard of the Month winner!
Dawn has called Williamsburg Settlement home for an incredible 23 years - 20 years just across the street before moving to her current home three years ago.
When asked what she loves about living in the Settlement, Dawn shared many of the things thathave kept her here for more than two decades. She loves feeling safe in the neighborhood and itsconvenient location with easy access to major freeways and plenty of shopping and restaurantsnearby. But it’s the neighborhood itself that really feels like home. She appreciates the family-friendly atmosphere, the established trees and landscaping, and seeing neighbors out walking, visiting and enjoying the community. With so many longtime residents who have also called Williamsburg Settlement home for years, Dawn describes it simply as “very homey.”

And that beautiful yard? Dawn gets the credit! While she has a lawn service handle the mowingand edging, she chooses and plants everything herself.
For fellow neighborhood gardeners, Dawn recommends Curcuma Turmeric Ginger. It loves theTexas sun but can also live in a partially shaded area. It goes dormant during the winter and comes right back in late spring. Her advice: "remember where you planted it so you don’t accidentally dig it up!"
She’s also a fan of Plumerias, which love the sun and grow beautifully here. During the winter they can be tucked away in the garage with no watering needed while they’re dormant. Once they start growing again in the spring, they’re ready to head back outside.
