Harmony Science Academy to Expand City Place Campus with New Middle and High School in Spring

February 16 2026

A new middle and high school campus is moving forward in the City Place area of Spring, marking the next phase of development for Harmony Public Schools in north Harris County.

The planned Harmony Science Academy, Middle and High School will be located at 22000 and 21900 Springwood Village Parkway, Spring, TX 77379, near the existing Harmony Science Academy-City Place elementary campus. The project carries an estimated cost of $30 million and is scheduled to begin construction on April 15, 2026, with completion targeted for August 15, 2027.

For families planning ahead for middle and high school, and for residents keeping an eye on how City Place continues to develop near the Grand Parkway, the new campus represents another addition to the area’s growing list of educational options. Once completed, it will expand the number of public charter school seats available locally and offer a curriculum centered on STEM, college readiness, and character education.

Project Details and Construction Timeline

According to project filings, the new campus will involve ground-up construction of a 79,645-square-foot single-story middle and high school facility. The development will include:

  • Parking areas
  • An athletic track and field
  • An outdoor basketball court
  • Landscaping and associated site work

The project is being designed by Gignac Architects, the same team behind the original Harmony Public Schools City Place campus.

The middle and high school facility will be built on the same 28.9-acre tract previously acquired by Harmony Public Schools from City Place master developer CDC Houston. The land purchase was announced in September 2022.

Construction on the future secondary campus is expected to begin in 2026, following the initial rollout of the elementary program.

Building on the Existing City Place Campus

Harmony Public Schools held a grand opening on Nov. 13 for its first City Place campus, Harmony Science Academy-City Place, which opened Aug. 13 for the 2025-26 academic year. That campus, located at 2600 Spring Stuebner Road, Spring, currently serves students in pre-K through sixth grade.

“This campus represents our commitment to academic excellence and innovation,” said Elyse Pravel, principal of Harmony Science Academy-City Place. “We are excited to serve the City Place community and provide a world-class education to our students.”

The elementary campus soft-opened in mid-August, with final construction touches completed shortly after.

“As someone who has personally benefited from Harmony’s programs, it’s incredibly meaningful for me to bring all that we offer to the Spring/Woodlands area,” Pravel said via a news release. “I’m especially looking forward to opening the doors of our new campus—not just for learning, but also for community events, competitions, celebrations and more.”

Enrollment Projections and Growth Plan

Harmony Public Schools has stated that Harmony Science Academy-City Place will add one grade level each year. Long-term projections indicate total enrollment could reach approximately 800 students, with an inaugural high school graduating class anticipated by 2032.

Harmony Public Schools is a Texas-based public charter school system that focuses on STEM education — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — along with project-based learning, character education and college readiness initiatives.

As a public charter school system, Harmony campuses are tuition-free. However, students must apply for admission, and when applications exceed available seats, enrollment is determined through a lottery system.

What This Means for the Area

City Place, located along Spring Stuebner Road south of the Grand Parkway in north Houston, has continued to see residential and commercial development in recent years. The addition of a middle and high school campus aligns with broader infrastructure growth in the area.

“The addition of Harmony Public Schools, a proven leader in STEM education and character development, is an exciting step in our evolution as a community,” CDC Executive Vice President Warren W. Wilson said in a prior release regarding the project.

For residents, new school construction often brings considerations related to enrollment availability, traffic patterns, extracurricular access and long-term planning for families with school-aged children.

What Happens Next

Construction is expected to begin in April 2026, with completion projected for August 2027, pending any adjustments to the development timeline. Learn more about Harmony Science Academy City Place at hsacityplace.harmonytx.org
