Houston Restaurant Weeks Serves Up $1.65 Million to Houston Food Bank

For more than two decades, Houston Restaurant Weeks has proven that something as simple as dining out can make a lasting difference in the lives of local families.

This week, Houston Restaurant Weeks announced that its 2025 fundraising campaign generated an impressive $1,651,698 donation to the Houston Food Bank and its affiliate food banks, helping provide millions of meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity across Southeast Texas.

The announcement comes as preparations ramp up for the 2026 Houston Restaurant Weeks event, which returns August 1 through September 7 and is expected to feature more than 350 participating restaurants throughout the Greater Houston area.

A Houston Tradition That Gives Back

Unlike many restaurant promotions around the country, Houston Restaurant Weeks was created with a charitable mission at its core.

Founded in 2003 by the late Cleverley Stone, one of Houston's most recognizable restaurant journalists and food advocates, the event was designed to support local restaurants during one of their traditionally slower dining periods while simultaneously raising money to fight hunger. What began as a local dining promotion has since grown into the largest restaurant weeks fundraiser in the United States.

Since its founding, Houston Restaurant Weeks has raised more than $23 million for the Houston Food Bank, helping provide more than 70 million meals to food-insecure residents throughout the region. Today, Stone's daughter, Katie Stone, continues to lead the initiative through The Cleverley Stone Foundation, carrying forward a legacy that has become deeply woven into Houston's dining and philanthropic communities.

Helping Families Across an 18-County Region

The impact of the annual event extends far beyond restaurant dining rooms.

The Houston Food Bank serves an 18-county area across Southeast Texas, working with approximately 1,600 community partners, including food pantries, schools, social service organizations, and soup kitchens. Since opening in 1982, the nonprofit's mission has been simple yet powerful: providing food for better lives.

In addition to distributing nutritious food, the organization connects families with resources aimed at addressing the root causes of hunger, including nutrition education, health management services, and assistance securing public benefits.

"As more families across Texas are struggling to put food on the table, the continued support from Houston Restaurant Weeks, Houston restaurants and diners provides both nourishment and hope for children, families and senior citizens experiencing food insecurity across Houston Food Bank's 18-county service area," said Brian Greene, president and CEO of Houston Food Bank. "Feeding others is one of the most universal expressions of care, and Houston Food Bank is grateful for HRW's long-standing support, which allows us to provide food for better lives."

Top Contributing Restaurants Recognized

Among the hundreds of participating restaurants, B&B Butchers led all contributors with a donation of $43,936 generated through Houston Restaurant Weeks menu sales. Other top contributors included Brennan's of Houston, Traveler's Table, Annabelle Brasserie, 51fifteen Cocktails and Cuisine, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse Downtown Houston, MAD Houston, Marmo, Prime 131 and Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse.

The annual event demonstrates how restaurants, diners and charitable organizations can work together to create measurable community impact while supporting Houston's hospitality industry.

Now entering its 23rd year, Houston Restaurant Weeks will once again invite residents to enjoy specially priced prix fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus while supporting hunger relief efforts. Participating restaurants will be located throughout the region, including Downtown Houston, Midtown, the Galleria area, Inner Loop neighborhoods, West Houston, Katy, East End, Sugar Land, Galveston and The Woodlands.

Why It Matters to Houston

Food insecurity remains a challenge for many households across the Greater Houston region, affecting children, seniors, working families and individuals facing unexpected hardships.

Houston Restaurant Weeks has become a unique example of how local businesses and residents can come together around a shared purpose. Every reservation made during the event supports both Houston-area restaurants and neighbors who may need assistance putting food on the table.

For diners, it's an opportunity to experience some of the region's most popular restaurants. For the Houston Food Bank, it represents one of the most important annual fundraising initiatives of the year. And for thousands of families across Southeast Texas, it helps ensure access to meals and resources when they are needed most.

Residents can learn more about participating restaurants and upcoming menus beginning July 15 at HoustonRestaurantWeeks.com.

As Houston Restaurant Weeks gets ready for another summer, Houstonians will once again have the chance to enjoy great meals while helping neighbors in need—a tradition that has become one of the city's most meaningful ways to give back.
