Girlfriends Giggle a Success

March 08 2023

The 2023 GIRLFRIEND'S GIGGLE hosted by the Fort Bend Women's Center is now history. However, the smiles and memories will last for years. Five hundred supporters attended the event held on February 23 at the Stafford Centre, netting $130,000 for Fort Bend Women's Center's lifesaving programs for domestic abuse and sexual assault survivors and their children.

Giggle committees and attendees had fun with costumes.

Attendees and Sponsors indulged themselves in the services provided by premier salons, yoga instructors, professional massage therapists, and more. In addition to pampering experiences, guests sampled food from close to twenty local restaurants and had their choice to hit the dance floor or just visit with friends over drinks. Rachel Borgsmiller, Owner and Managing Partner, The Nimesh Patel Group RE/MAX, said “Honestly, I can’t think of a better way to bring women together to support the Fort Bend Women’s Center just because we’re all having a great time doing it!”

The appearance of Fort Bend Women’s Center ThriftWise pop-up was an important addition to this year’s GIRLFRIENDS GIGGLE fundraising and mission focus. The funds generated through the sale of the donated clothing, furniture and household items goes directly to the lifesaving programs of Fort Bend Women’s Center. Presenting Sponsor, Kim Speairs, PCCA, Director of Marketing and Communications has been a proud supporter of Fort Bend Women’s Center for more than 30years “We really embrace the mission to bring Healing and Hope to survivors of domestic abuse and knowing the impact our support can have on the lives of others. It is so important to us as a company and so important to all our team members to donate and to contribute their time to the cause because of the value it brings” Said Speairs.

Attendees had a chance to shop at multiple vendor booths in the Giggle Galleria.

This annual fundraising event helps Fort Bend Women's Center provide must needed services for survivors and their children who have been victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Karen Rakers, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Next Level Health & Wellness said, “We encounter women in crisis and struggling all the time and we want to do everything we can to help them from the medical side of course, but we also want to provide resources when they need it and this incredible organization is such a great resource for them and such an important resource for our community.”

Since its founding in 1980, the Fort Bend Women’s Center has helped more than 54,000 survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Fort Bend Women's Center is the primary provider of assistance services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Fort Bend County.

Giggle Grub was outstanding with food provided by over 15 local restaurants.

According to Vita Goodell, Fort Bend Women's Center's CEO, "Our goal is to guide survivors as they heal from their abuse. We equip them with the emotional, psychological, and practical skills and resources to create a hopeful, safe, independent life free of abuse. All our services are completely free of charge and open to all survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault - regardless of gender, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, or identity - because we believe every survivor deserves the chance to thrive".

Fort Bend Women’s Center’s mission is to assist all survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children to achieve safety and self-sufficiency, while striving to prevent violence against women. To access services, call 281-342-4357 or chat via fbwc.org.
