Fort Bend County to Host Veterans Day Celebration at Historic Courthouse
Fort Bend County, in collaboration with Fort Bend County Veterans Services, will honor veterans with a special Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 8, 2024. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Historic Fort Bend County Courthouse, located at 401 Jackson St., Richmond, TX 77469.
The ceremony will include a POW and MIA tribute to honor prisoners of war and those missing in action. Lieutenant Colonel Peter Palms from the 75th Innovation Command – Army Reserve will serve as the keynote speaker. With over 14 years of logistics management experience in the U.S. Army, Lieutenant Colonel Palms currently serves as the Chief of Operations for the U.S. Army, responsible for strategic planning and coordination of domestic and global supply chain initiatives in support of combat operations.

Fort Bend County, home to 27,085 veterans, is committed to recognizing the service and sacrifice of military personnel. The inclusion of a POW/MIA ceremony is a poignant reminder to never forget the service members who were captured or remain unaccounted for.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the Historic Courtroom within the Courthouse.
The public is invited to attend and join the community in honoring the nation's veterans.
