Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Hosts Hiring Event to Address Staffing Shortages

September 16 2024

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office (FBCSO) has announced plans to host a major hiring event amid a pressing staffing shortage. Expected to take place on Saturday, October 19th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the recruitment drive will run from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy in Richmond.

The Sheriff's Office is seeking to fill a number of critical roles such as Detention Officers, Patrol Deputies, and 9-1-1 Dispatchers. The recruitment drive comes as FBCSO grapples with staffing shortages, which urgently need to be addressed to continue to protect and serve the growing population of Fort Bend County effectively.

Those attending the event are not only going to have a chance to interact directly with FBCSO recruiters but also may receive conditional job offers on the spot. To expedite the hiring process, pre-registration is recommended. Interested parties can scan the QR code on the event flyer or register via the Office's official website here.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office is both the largest and most diverse law enforcement agency within the county. Established in 1837, the department consists of more than 900 employees, which includes 615 sworn peace officers and 22 reserve volunteer deputies. Their collective duty is to safeguard nearly 900,000 residents across an area spanning 885 square miles, including 21 unincorporated communities. Fort Bend County is among the top ten fastest-growing counties in the United States.

Sheriff Eric Fagan emphasized the importance of the hiring event, stating, "We are facing staffing shortages, and it is vital that we fill these vacancies to maintain the high level of service and safety the Fort Bend County community expects and deserves. This hiring event will help ensure we have the personnel needed to continue our efforts to protect and serve."

Qualified applicants are invited to attend and participate in the job fair. For more information about the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, please visit fortbendcountytx.gov/government/departments/sheriff-s-office
