Del Webb Brings First 55+ Active Adult Community to Bridgeland as Demand Grows for Lifestyle-Focused Housing

February 10 2026

As demand continues to rise for lifestyle-oriented housing designed for older adults, Bridgeland is expanding its residential mix with the addition of its first 55+ active adult neighborhood. Del Webb Bridgeland, announced February 5, 2026, will be located in Creekland Village and marks a notable milestone for the 11,500-acre master planned community in northwest Houston.

Across Texas and the nation, active adult communities have gained momentum as more Baby Boomers and early retirees seek homes that balance low-maintenance living with opportunities for wellness, social connection, and recreation. According to housing industry data, adults age 55 and older now represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the homebuying market, driving increased interest in developments that offer both private amenities and access to broader community infrastructure.

Del Webb, a brand under PulteGroup and widely recognized as a leader in active adult housing, is responding to that trend with a 190-acre gated community within Bridgeland. Del Webb Bridgeland will include 672 homes on 50- and 65-foot-wide home sites, with model homes anticipated to open later this fall. The neighborhood will be the first age-qualified community within Bridgeland, which is located in one of the most moved-to ZIP codes in the Houston area.

“Del Webb Bridgeland represents an exceptional opportunity for active adults seeking a vibrant, amenity-rich lifestyle in one of the Houston area’s premier master planned communities,” said Bryan Hahn, PulteGroup’s Houston Division VP of Land Acquisition. “By combining Del Webb’s signature lifestyle programming with Bridgeland’s nationally recognized quality of life, we’re creating something truly special.”

Why Active Adult Communities Are Gaining Momentum

The popularity of 55+ communities has accelerated in recent years as buyers prioritize walkability, health-focused amenities, and built-in social opportunities. Many active adults are choosing to downsize from larger homes while staying close to family, medical services, and entertainment. Master planned communities like Bridgeland, with established trails, parks, and nearby retail, have become especially attractive locations for these developments.

Del Webb Bridgeland residents will have exclusive access to a dedicated Del Webb amenity center, while also enjoying full use of Bridgeland’s extensive amenities. These include more than 3,000 acres of lakes, parks, and green space and over 250 miles of connected trails, reinforcing the community’s reputation for outdoor living and accessibility.

Integrated Living Within Bridgeland

In addition to recreational amenities, Del Webb Bridgeland residents will be close to Bridgeland Central®, the community’s growing commercial district. The area offers convenient access to essential services such as H-E-B and Memorial Hermann-GoHealth Urgent Care, along with dining destinations including Jonathan’s the Rub. Easy access to healthcare, shopping, and restaurants has become a key consideration for many 55+ buyers, further fueling interest in communities like this one.

“We’re excited to expand our range of home options with the addition of Del Webb Bridgeland,” said Steve Sams, Senior Vice President, Master Planned Communities for Howard Hughes Communities. “Bringing a nationally recognized active adult community to Bridgeland provides more choices for residents at every stage of life and reinforces our commitment to creating a cohesive community for all residents.”

Resort-Style Amenities and Lifestyle Programming

At the center of Del Webb Bridgeland will be a private amenity center designed to support both active living and social engagement. Planned features include indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center and movement studio, a golf simulator, pickleball and bocce courts, outdoor living areas with fireplaces, activity lawns, and walking trails. Del Webb’s signature lifestyle programming is expected to play a central role in helping residents connect through clubs, events, and shared interests.

As Bridgeland continues to grow, the addition of Del Webb Bridgeland reflects broader housing and demographic trends shaping communities across the Houston region. By incorporating an active adult neighborhood into an established master planned community, developers are responding to evolving preferences while maintaining a sense of continuity and inclusivity.
