Over $1 Million Secured for New Ladder Truck to Strengthen Tomball Fire Rescue

February 23 2026

For residents in Tomball, strong fire protection is something many don’t think about until they need it. This week, the City of Tomball announced an investment aimed at ensuring those services remain reliable as the community continues to grow.

Congressman Wesley Hunt has helped secure $1,015,000 in community project funding for a new ladder truck for Tomball Fire Rescue. City officials say the funding will strengthen emergency response capabilities and support the department’s ongoing commitment to protecting both the City of Tomball and Harris County Emergency Services District 15 (HCESD 15).

“This new ladder truck is more than equipment,” the City shared. “It is an investment in the safety of our residents and the firefighters who serve them.”

City leaders also expressed appreciation for continued collaboration across all levels of government to support public safety services in Tomball.

Supporting a High Standard of Fire Protection

Tomball Fire Rescue operates with full-time crews housed at four stations and maintains an ISO rating of Class 1 within the city limits and Class 2 within the ESD — classifications that reflect the department’s level of fire protection capability.

The department’s current ladder apparatus includes:

  • Ladder 1, a 2019 Pierce Velocity 105-foot ladder truck capable of pumping 1,500 gallons per minute.
  • Ladder 5, a 2007 Velocity 75-foot aerial truck that serves as a reserve unit.

Additional engines, wildland booster units and medical response vehicles are stationed throughout the system, supporting both structural and medical emergency calls.

The new ladder truck will help maintain fleet readiness and ensure the department can continue responding effectively to residential, commercial and multi-story incidents across the Tomball area.

Serving Tomball and HCESD 15

Tomball Fire Rescue serves residents from:

  • Firehouse 1 & Administrative Offices – 1200 Rudel Rd., Tomball
  • Firehouse 2 – 11725 Holderrieth Rd., Tomball
  • ESD #15 Firehouse 4 – 10333 Mahaffey Rd., Tomball
  • ESD #15 Firehouse 5 – 19900 Telge Rd., Tomball

As Tomball continues to experience steady residential and commercial development, maintaining modern, dependable equipment remains central to the department’s mission.

City officials emphasized that this funding represents continued support for strong public safety services and helping ensure Tomball remains safe and well protected.

Residents can expect updates as the procurement process for the new ladder truck moves forward.
