Strack Intermediate Rededicated as Fully Modernized Klein ISD Campus, Marking Milestone in $895.4M 2022 Bond Program
For the Klein ISD community, Strack Intermediate has long been more than a school building. It has been a place where generations of students found their footing during the critical middle school years.
On February 23, 2026, that legacy took a visible step forward.
Strack Intermediate officially celebrated its rededication as the second fully modernized intermediate campus completed through the voter-approved Klein ISD 2022 Bond. Community members, founding families, district leaders, staff, and students gathered at 18027 Kuykendahl Rd, Klein, TX 77379 to mark what district leaders described as both a historic milestone and a community promise fulfilled.
The transformation is part of Klein ISD’s long-term effort to modernize aging campuses, enhance school safety and security, and equip classrooms with updated technology to meet the needs of today’s learners.
What the Klein ISD 2022 Bond Means for Families
On May 7, 2022, Klein ISD voters approved $895,350,000 in bond funding — the largest bond in district history — with Proposition A passing at 59.09 percent and Proposition B at 59.16 percent, according to preliminary results from HarrisVotes.com. Propositions C and D did not pass.
More than 18,000 votes were cast in the 2022 bond election, triple the turnout of the district’s 2015 bond election — a sign of strong community engagement in decisions affecting local schools, property values, and neighborhood growth.
The 2022 Bond funds are dedicated to:
- Enhancing safety and security measures across campuses
- Addressing student growth and capacity challenges
- Modernizing aging schools districtwide
- Renovating all campuses
- Upgrading athletic, arts, and academic spaces
- Purchasing new instructional technology
For families in Klein, the bond represents a direct investment in neighborhood schools — often considered one of the strongest drivers of community stability and long-term property value.

Honoring 50 Years of History at Strack Intermediate
Strack Intermediate first opened its doors on August 22, 1977. Named after Herman Strack — a Prussian immigrant who arrived in Texas in 1848 and purchased farmland near Cypress Creek — the school carries a name deeply rooted in local history. The Strack family continues to farm land first purchased by Herman Strack, part of two original 1836 Republic of Texas land grants.
For more than five decades, the campus has served Klein ISD students in grades 6 through 8. Today, the school operates from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., continuing its commitment to academic excellence and student development.
Principal Stephanie Gray reflected on the significance of the renovation during the ceremony.
“I am honored to stand before our community as we re-dedicate a fully modernized Strack Intermediate School,” Gray said. “For more than 50 years, this campus has been a place of memories, learning, and growth. Today’s renovation marks an exciting new chapter in our story—one that ensures future generations of students will learn and thrive in a modern, vibrant, and inspiring environment.”
The modernization preserves the campus legacy while updating infrastructure, learning spaces, and technology to support current and future instructional needs.
Designed for Modern Learning and Safety
As one of the completed Klein ISD bond projects, Strack Intermediate’s renovation reflects districtwide goals outlined by Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown following the 2022 election.
“The 2022 Bond is the largest bond to pass in the history of our school district, and we are very excited to see our Klein ISD students, staff, and community benefit for many generations to come,” McGown said after voters approved the measure.
The district emphasized that projects are being managed conservatively and strategically.
“We are thankful for the support of this community-developed Bond proposal,” Board President Ronnie K. Anderson said in 2022. “We are excited to get to work conservatively managing these bond dollars for much-needed projects that will serve our kids and our community.”
The Strack Intermediate renovation involved collaboration among BRW Architects, DCP Construction, and Pogue Construction, along with Klein ISD’s Operations and Capital Projects departments.
Leadership Focused on Student Growth
Strack Intermediate continues to serve Klein ISD middle school students under the leadership of:
- Principal Stephanie Gray
- Assistant Principal Kelsey Marino (8th Grade)
- Assistant Principal Kevin Moye (6th Grade)
- Assistant Principal Kyle Valdez (7th Grade)
The campus emphasizes its RISE core values: Resilience, Integrity, Self-Discipline, and Empathy.
School leaders say the renovated environment supports Strack’s mission of intentionally personalizing learning — addressing each student’s strengths, needs, and passions while ensuring mastery of essential skills and standards.

A Community-Driven Investment
The 2022 Bond proposal was shaped by a community-led Bond Steering Committee of nearly 100 parents, grandparents, teachers, staff, business leaders, and community members. After reviewing financial data, enrollment growth, instructional needs, and touring prior renovations, the committee developed recommendations presented to the Klein ISD Board of Trustees.
Since 2004, Klein ISD has grown by nearly 17,000 students, resulting in 20 additional schools and major renovations at campuses such as Lemm Elementary and Klein High School. District officials note that the 2015 bond was completed on time and under budget.
For many in attendance at the rededication ceremony, Strack’s transformation reflects a broader story — one of sustained growth, careful financial planning, and community participation.
