Beloved Katy Festival Renamed to Honor Roots
The Katy Rice Festival is bringing back their Katy roots.
43 years ago, in 1981, the Katy Rice Festival began as a “Sellabration” to recognize the importance of rice farming to the Katy economy. Although rice is no longer harvested in Katy like it once was, the City of Katy in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Katy is thrilled to bring back the original festival name ‘Katy Rice Harvest Festival’.

About the Festival
Established in 1980, the Festival was originally born to showcase the rich history of Katy as the "Rice Capital of the World". Over the years, the Festival has grown in popularity, welcoming as many as 50,000 guests annually. The Festival is hosted by the City of Katy, in conjunction with The Rotary Club of Katy. All net proceeds from the Katy Rice Festival will benefit The Rotary Club of Katy fund for scholarships and donations to the local Katy community.
