Williamsburg Colony Residents to See QR Code for Annual Water Quality Report on June MUD Bills

Williamsburg Colony Residents to See QR Code for Annual Water Quality Report on June MUD Bills

May 20 2026

For Williamsburg Colony residents, monthly utility bills are about more than numbers on a statement. They reflect the systems working quietly behind the scenes every day to provide safe drinking water, maintain infrastructure, and support one of the community’s most essential services.

Beginning with June utility invoices, residents in West Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 2 (WHCMUD 2) are expected to see a new QR code printed directly on their MUD bill. The code will provide quick digital access to the district’s Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report, giving homeowners and families an easier way to review information about their community’s water system.

The report is typically around nine to 10 pages long and includes important details about drinking water standards, testing results, treatment processes, and water quality compliance. Residents who prefer a physical copy will still be able to request one through the Municipal Operations & Consulting (MOC) office. Additional details are expected to be included alongside the June invoice.

For many residents, the update may seem small, but it reflects a broader effort to make important public information easier to access in an increasingly digital world.

What Williamsburg Colony Residents Should Know About the Water Quality Report

Annual Drinking Water Quality Reports are required by the Environmental Protection Agency and provide transparency about local water systems. These reports typically outline:

  • Where the community’s drinking water comes from
  • How the water is treated and monitored
  • Results of required water quality testing
  • Any detected substances and whether they meet federal standards
  • Information about water conservation and public health standards

For busy families, homeowners, and residents managing household budgets, the addition of a QR code offers a quicker way to stay informed without needing to search online or request documents separately.

Residents who do not wish to access the report digitally can still contact MOC to obtain a printed copy.

WHCMUD 2 Recently Announced Updated Rates and Fees

The upcoming June bill also comes shortly after West Harris County MUD 2 released an updated schedule of rates and fees effective earlier this year.

According to the district’s published schedule, water usage rates continue to follow a tiered structure designed to encourage conservation, with higher usage billed at higher rates. The current water rates are listed as:

  • 0–10,000 gallons: $1.00 minimum
  • 10,001–15,000 gallons: $1.25 per 1,000 gallons
  • 15,001–20,000 gallons: $1.50 per 1,000 gallons
  • Over 20,000 gallons: $2.00 per 1,000 gallons

In addition, the WHCRWA surface water rate is currently $4.35 per 1,000 gallons.

The sewer service minimum rate is listed at $24.84 per month and includes garbage service for most residential accounts.

The updated fee schedule also includes charges associated with late payments, reconnects, returned checks, and delinquent accounts. Residents are reminded that utility bills are due on the 22nd of each month.

Why This Matters for Williamsburg Colony Families

As utility costs continue to rise across the Houston region, many families are paying closer attention to both water usage and monthly household expenses. Easy access to water quality information gives residents a clearer understanding of the services they are paying for while helping build transparency between utility districts and the communities they serve.

For Williamsburg Colony homeowners, the combination of updated rate information and easier digital access to public water reports also highlights the ongoing infrastructure investment required to support growing neighborhoods throughout the Katy area.

Simple updates like a QR code may not seem significant at first glance, but for residents balancing busy schedules, they can make community information more accessible and easier to engage with.

Residents are encouraged to review their June bill carefully for additional details regarding the QR code access instructions and updated utility information.
