Tompkins and Katy High Schools Earn State Awards in FFA Competition
Students from Tompkins and Katy high schools recently brought home top honors from the State Leadership Development Event (LDE) held at Sam Houston State University earlier this month. Tompkins High School earned first place in the Greenhand FFA Quiz, while Katy High School claimed the top spot in the Chapter Agricultural Quiz.
“We are so proud of Katy and Tompkins for earning first place in their respective competitions,” said Jeannie Knierim, Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Katy ISD. “Congratulations to all our students who placed and participated in the state competition. Their achievements highlight the dedication and hard work of the students and their coaches.”
The Tompkins FFA chapter, which was founded in 2013, is part of the school's Agricultural Science program. As a co-curricular organization, the chapter provides students with opportunities to participate in various activities throughout the year, ranging from leadership development events to community service. Membership is available to all students enrolled in agricultural science courses at Tompkins High School, allowing them to be involved in a variety of events, including quizzes, public speaking, and other leadership-focused competitions.
