REMINDER: Georgetown Colony Holiday Lights Contest to Brighten Neighborhood Spirit This December
As December rolls in and homes begin to sparkle with seasonal cheer, Georgetown Colony residents have another reason to get festive—this year’s Holiday Lighting Contest, hosted by the Georgetown Colony Property Owners Association (POA), promises to light up the neighborhood and hearts alike.
Set for the weekend of December 13th and 14th, the event offers a spirited opportunity for homeowners to showcase their creativity, holiday spirit, and community pride. Judging will take place each evening between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM, and winners will be featured in My Neighborhood News (MNN) and receive their prize awards just in time for Christmas.
Residents who wish to participate are encouraged to make sure their holiday lights are on during judging hours and that their POA accounts are in good standing to qualify for consideration.
Contest Details & Judging Criteria
Participants will be judged based on what can be seen from the nearest public roadway, so front-facing displays are key. All lights and decorations must be illuminated during the judging window on both nights.
Entries will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Originality
- Holiday Theme
- Holiday Spirit
- Arrangement
Bonus points may be awarded for displays that include a religious connection, adding depth and meaning to the seasonal celebration.

This cheerful neighborhood tradition not only brightens the streets but brings neighbors together in a shared celebration of the season—reminding everyone that a little light can go a long way in making the holidays magical.
