Portillo’s Chicago-Style Eatery Coming to Katy – Opening Soon Near Katy Asian Town
Portillo’s, the beloved Chicago-style eatery known for its hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, and famous chocolate cake, is set to open its latest location in Katy. The restaurant, situated at 1019 Westside Parkway, Katy, TX 77449, is nestled near Katy Asian Town and popular attractions like Andretti Indoor Karting & Games and Home Run Dugout. With construction complete, locals are eagerly awaiting the official announcement of the grand opening date.
This new 7,700-square-foot Portillo’s will be located in the Katy Grand development on Grand Circle Boulevard, and the restaurant’s design features a retro automotive garage theme. The space has been carefully designed to accommodate a variety of dining preferences. Customers can enjoy their meal inside the lively dining rooms or on one of the outdoor patios, or opt for convenient takeout through Portillo’s signature double drive-thru lanes. Additionally, the restaurant will feature dedicated areas for off-premise guests, including Portillo’s Pick Up shelves for takeout orders and delivery drivers, as well as a Grab and Go section for desserts, drinks, and merchandise.
Portillo’s menu offers a wide variety of classic Chicago-style comfort foods. Their famous Chicago-style hot dogs come topped with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, a pickle spear, and sport peppers, all on a poppy seed bun. For those craving something heartier, the Italian beef sandwiches—slow-roasted, thinly sliced beef served on freshly baked French bread and dipped in savory gravy—are a standout. Portillo’s also offers a range of sides, including crispy fries, onion rings, and chopped salads, as well as char-grilled burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches. To cap off the meal, guests can indulge in the rich, moist chocolate cake or try the decadent chocolate cake shake.

Portillo’s first opened in 1963 in Villa Park, Illinois, when founder Dick Portillo invested $1,100 into a small trailer to create a hot dog stand called "The Dog House." Over the years, the brand has grown into a nationwide phenomenon with more than 70 locations across the United States. The Katy location follows Portillo's recent expansion into the Houston area, with the Richmond location opening in fall 2024.
