Porter Airlines Launches Nonstop Austin to Toronto Flights at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Beginning May 21, 2026

February 20 2026

Austin travelers will soon have a new nonstop international option out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), making it easier to reach one of North America’s most dynamic cities. Porter Airlines is set to launch year-round service between AUS and Toronto-Pearson International Airport (YYZ) beginning May 21, 2026, marking a notable expansion in international flights from Austin.

For Central Texas residents, business travelers, and families planning summer trips, the new Austin to Toronto nonstop flight represents more than just another destination on the departures board. It adds direct access to Canada’s largest city — a global hub for finance, technology, film, and culture — while also opening a new gateway for Canadian visitors traveling to the Live Music Capital of the World.

What the New Austin to Toronto Flight Means for Central Texas

As Austin continues to grow as a technology, innovation, and cultural center, international air service has become increasingly important to the region’s economic development and tourism industry. The addition of Porter Airlines at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport supports that trajectory by strengthening AUS international connectivity.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Porter Airlines as a new partner at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport,” said AUS Chief Executive Officer Ghizlane Badawi. “Expanding international connectivity is a key priority for AUS, and we’re delighted to welcome this new nonstop service to Toronto, which will provide our travelers with more convenient options to connect for business, leisure, and beyond."

The AUS to YYZ route will operate five times weekly, year-round, using Porter’s new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. For Austin-based companies with ties to Canadian markets — particularly in technology, advanced manufacturing, and film — the route provides more efficient access to Toronto’s business community. For local families, it creates a convenient pathway to explore Canada without lengthy layovers.

A Boost for Austin Tourism and Canadian Visitors

The new route is also expected to benefit Austin’s visitor economy by making travel between Canada and Central Texas more seamless. Tourism leaders see the connection as a two-way opportunity.

"We are excited to welcome our Canadian neighbors to the Live Music Capital of the World," said Tom Noonan, President & CEO, Visit Austin. "This new airline and nonstop service not only makes it easier for Austinites to explore what Toronto and the rest of Canada have to offer, but it also opens a front door for international visitors to experience Austin’s legendary music scene, world-class culinary community, and vibrant culture. We look forward to sharing the unique soul and hospitality that make Austin a premier global destination."

Canadian visitors will gain direct access to Austin’s festivals, food scene, outdoor recreation, and business events, while Austinites can easily explore Toronto’s iconic CN Tower, Lake Ontario waterfront, professional sports including Blue Jays baseball, and the region’s proximity to Niagara Falls and Ontario’s wine country.

About Porter Airlines: A Refined Economy Experience

Toronto-based Porter Airlines is known for delivering what it describes as a more passenger-friendly economy experience. The airline operates an all-economy cabin with no middle seats on its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft — a feature that may appeal to travelers seeking added comfort on international routes.

“This Austin-Toronto route connects two vibrant centers and gives passengers the opportunity to enjoy Porter’s unmatched economy experience on every flight. Austin is another exciting step in Porter’s growing North American network, with connections available across Canada via YYZ,” said Andrew Pierce, Vice President, Network Planning and Reporting, Porter Airlines.

Porter offers two service options:

  • PorterClassic, which includes complimentary snacks and beverages, including beer and wine served in real glassware.
  • PorterReserve, an upgraded option featuring extra legroom, priority check-in and boarding, and fresh meal selections on longer flights.

Passengers also receive free high-speed Wi-Fi and in-seat power outlets, blending affordability with added comfort — features increasingly sought after by both business and leisure travelers.

Strengthening Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s Global Network

The addition of nonstop Toronto service reflects Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s ongoing strategy to expand international flight options for the rapidly growing Central Texas region. Demand for Austin international flights has continued to rise as the region attracts new residents, corporate headquarters, and global events.

For homeowners and business owners alike, increased international air service can influence economic growth, property values, job creation, and the city’s national and global reputation. Direct routes often signal confidence in a region’s long-term viability and connectivity.

With Toronto serving as a major international hub, the new AUS to YYZ route also offers onward connections throughout Canada and other global destinations, further positioning Austin as an increasingly accessible city on the international stage.
