Pappas Restaurant Weeks Brings Special Menus and Hunger-Relief Support to Austin
Austin-area residents will have a new way to turn a summer meal out into support for neighbors facing hunger when the inaugural Pappas Restaurant Weeks begins Saturday, Aug. 1.
The dining event will run through Labor Day, Sept. 7, at participating Pappas Restaurants across the country. In Austin, a portion of proceeds from featured dishes and specially curated menus will benefit the Central Texas Food Bank, connecting meals served at three familiar North Austin restaurants with food assistance efforts throughout the region.
For local families, coworkers and friends, the campaign offers a simple community connection: gathering around a restaurant table while helping an organization that works year-round to keep food on tables across Central Texas.
Three Austin Pappas Restaurants Will Participate
The Austin-area restaurants participating in Pappas Restaurant Weeks are:
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen
Near the Interstate 35 and U.S. 290 interchange
Pappasito’s Cantina
6513 N. Interstate 35, Austin, TX 78752
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen
11617 Research Blvd., Austin, TX 78759
Each location will direct a portion of its Pappas Restaurant Weeks proceeds to the Central Texas Food Bank. Diners are encouraged to review the participating restaurants’ promotional menus and reservation information before visiting, as offerings may differ by restaurant.
The Austin locations are among more than 80 Pappas restaurants across eight states participating in the company’s first nationwide restaurant-weeks campaign.
“For decades, our restaurants have been dedicated to bringing people together around exceptional food and hospitality,” said Christina Pappas, chief marketing officer at Pappas Restaurants. “Pappas Restaurant Weeks is an extension of that commitment on a national scale, giving guests at more than 80 restaurants across eight states the opportunity to experience thoughtfully curated menus while deepening our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.”
All 10 Pappas Restaurant Concepts Join the Campaign
Pappas Restaurant Weeks will include all 10 concepts operated by the Houston-based restaurant group:
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Pappasito’s Cantina, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, Pappas Bar-B-Q, Pappas Seafood House, Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse, Pappas Burger, Little’s Oyster Bar, Dot Coffee Shop and YiaYia’s Greek Kitchen.
Collectively, participating restaurants will benefit 16 food banks serving communities in Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, New Mexico and Ohio.
The effort expands on Pappas Restaurants’ existing hunger-relief work, including its Bite to Fight giving program and Pappas Can volunteer initiative, through which restaurant team members volunteer with food banks in the communities where they live and work.
Pappas Restaurants Has Deep Texas Roots
Pappas Restaurants is a privately owned, family-operated company based in Houston. Brothers Chris and Harris Pappas are part of a family hospitality history that grew from the opening of Dot Coffee Shop in 1976 into a portfolio of more than 100 restaurants.
Although the company has expanded into multiple states, many of its best-known brands remain closely associated with Texas dining. Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen is known for Gulf Coast-inspired seafood and Cajun dishes, while Pappasito’s Cantina serves Tex-Mex favorites such as fajitas, enchiladas, handmade tortillas and salsa.
The company says its restaurants remain owned and operated by the Pappas organization rather than franchised, allowing the family business to maintain direct oversight of its concepts and locations.
That longstanding Texas presence gives the new charitable dining campaign a local dimension in Austin, where Pappadeaux and Pappasito’s have served residents, visitors and business travelers for years.
How the Central Texas Food Bank Serves the Austin Region
The Central Texas Food Bank is the region’s largest hunger-relief organization, working through food pantries, mobile distributions, schools and nonprofit community partners across a 21-county service area.
Its work extends beyond distributing groceries. The Austin-based nonprofit provides fresh produce, pantry staples and prepared meals while also helping residents connect with resources such as SNAP application assistance, nutrition education, workforce training and programs for children and older adults.
The need can become especially noticeable during the summer, when children who rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school year may lose regular access to that food. In 2026, the Central Texas Food Bank planned to provide more than 240,000 summer meals to over 4,000 children through approximately 70 nonprofit partners.
Funds generated through restaurant partnerships can help the food bank purchase and distribute food where it is needed, support community programs and respond as household budgets are strained by housing, utility, transportation and grocery costs.
A Summer Dining Event With a Local Purpose
Pappas Restaurant Weeks arrives during a busy season for Austin’s restaurant community. The promotion will run from Aug. 1 through Sept. 7, overlapping with the opening days of the Central Texas Food Bank’s separate Austin Restaurant Weeks event, scheduled for Aug. 28 through Sept. 13.
The two campaigns are independently organized, but both give Central Texas diners opportunities to support hunger-relief work through participating restaurants.
For residents already planning a birthday dinner, family gathering, date night or meal with colleagues, Pappas Restaurant Weeks offers another reason to consider one of the participating Austin locations. The contribution is tied to eligible promotional purchases, meaning diners can support the Central Texas Food Bank through a meal they may already have been planning.
What Austin Diners Should Know
Pappas Restaurant Weeks will take place from Aug. 1 through Sept. 7, 2026.
Special menus, featured dishes and participation details may vary among Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Pappasito’s Cantina and the other Pappas concepts. Guests should check the official Pappas Restaurants event information or contact the Austin restaurant they plan to visit for current menus, availability and reservation options.
As the inaugural campaign unfolds, its local impact will reach beyond the dining room. For Central Texas families who turn to food pantries, school programs and mobile distributions during difficult seasons, a restaurant promotion can become part of a much larger network of neighbors helping neighbors.
