Luigi’s Italian Gelato has officially opened at 2100 Cane Island Pkwy, Katy, TX 77493, just steps from the neighborhood’s recreation center, bringing handcrafted gelato and artisan coffee to one of Katy’s fastest-growing communities.
The new shop is open Wednesday through Sunday, with extended evening hours on the weekend, and already feels like a natural fit among other neighborhood favorites like Humble Grounds Coffee House and Texas Borders Bar & Grill.
From Cy-Fair to Cane Island: A Fresh Start
Earlier this year, fans of Luigi’s Gelato and Coffee in Cy-Fair, which was located at 13325 FM 1960 Rd W, Houston, TX 77065, were surprised when the shop suddenly closed its doors—no announcement, no send-off. It left a lot of folks wondering what had happened to one of the area’s favorite dessert stops.
Now, without much fanfare, Luigi’s is back—this time nestled in the heart of Cane Island . The new location offers a closer connection to neighborhood life, surrounded by local favorites and walkable spots that make it easier for families and neighbors to drop by and enjoy a scoop together.

At Luigi’s, gelato isn’t just a treat—it’s a craft. The team uses milk instead of cream, giving each scoop a rich flavor and smoother texture without the heaviness of traditional ice cream. Their recipes skip most of the egg yolks, too, keeping the fat content lower while letting the real ingredients shine through.
