Texas Borders Bar & Grill Now Open in Cane Island, Serving Up Southern Hospitality and a Full Bar Experience
After months of eager anticipation, Texas Borders Bar & Grill is officially open in Cane Island as of Sunday, August 18, 2025. The locally loved restaurant group, known for its signature blend of All-American, Cajun, and Tex-Mex cuisine, now welcomes guests into its newest location in the heart of the Cane Island community—just steps from the community’s walkable town center.
Although operating with a limited food menu during the soft opening phase, the full bar is open and ready to serve. That means residents and visitors can already enjoy Texas Borders’ signature cocktails, cold beers, and southern-inspired spirits while soaking in the laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere the brand is known for.
Locals are encouraged to stop in and experience what has made Texas Borders a neighborhood staple for nearly 30 years: hospitality, flavor, and a deep-rooted connection to community. Currently, Texas Borders Bar & Grill in Cane Island is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the restaurant closed on Mondays.
“We’re open and ready to serve you,” the team announced to Cane Island residents. “Come see us and enjoy good vibes, delicious food, cold drinks, and Cane Island hospitality!”

A Katy Legacy, A New Chapter
Founded in 1996 by New Orleans native Kellie Messer, Texas Borders Bar & Grill has grown from a single location into a community-driven dining destination with multiple locations in Katy and Richmond. Kellie’s passion for food and hospitality was inspired by her grandmother, Mary Francis, a restaurant owner and bar operator who laid the foundation for a legacy built on good service and memorable meals.
Now, that tradition continues in Cane Island, with Kellie and her team promising more than just a meal—it’s an experience.
“This community is the perfect match for our family-forward, fun-loving culture,” Kellie said earlier this summer. The Cane Island spot takes over the former space of The Oaks Kitchen & Bar and brings a fresh energy to the neighborhood’s growing dining and entertainment scene.
