
Katy ISD Prepares for Back-to-Back Board Meetings on May 12 Covering Elections, Budget, and District Growth
The Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees will convene for two public meetings on Monday, May 12, at the Education Support Complex (located at 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy, TX 77494). The Special Board Meeting will begin at 3:45 p.m., followed by the Regular Board Meeting at 5:00 p.m. Both sessions are open to the public and livestreamed online, providing an important opportunity for community engagement in district governance.
Special Board Meeting: Election Certification
The first session will focus exclusively on certifying the results of the May 3 Board of Trustees election. The Board will consider approval of the official canvass of election results and certify newly elected trustees for Positions 1 and 2.
Regular Board Meeting: Oaths, Recognitions, and District Decisions
The Regular Meeting at 5:00 p.m. will include a range of ceremonial, administrative, and strategic agenda items:

Swearing-In of Trustees: The Oath of Office will be administered to the newly elected board members.

Board Officer Elections: Trustees will elect new officers for the 2025–2026 term.

Community Honors: The Board will recognize UIL 6A State Track & Field Champions and the Class of 2025 Valedictorians and Salutatorians, with student performances from local schools during opening ceremonies.

Budget, Staffing, and Boundary Discussions
The Board will vote on several key issues affecting the 2025–2026 school year, including:

Approval of budget amendments and March 2025 financial reports

Contracts for fleet and police vehicle purchases

Additional staffing requests to address district growth

Student accident insurance proposals
- An Attendance Boundary Modification (ABM) affecting school zoning for the upcoming academic year
Board will also review interlocal agreements with the Harris County Department of Education for specialized student services and therapy programs.

Reports from the Katy Council of PTAs, NJROTC, and the Outdoor Learning Center will be presented, alongside an update on the district’s health plan. Board committee updates and member requests for information will also be shared.
