Graeme’s Run 2026 to Bring Katy Together Once Again for CHD Awareness and Research
Katy families and fitness enthusiasts alike are getting ready to run with heart. The 11th Annual Graeme’s Run is officially set for Saturday, February 28, 2026—promising another unforgettable day of community, remembrance, and action in support of congenital heart defect (CHD) research.
Held each year during American Heart Month, the event is hosted by The Graeme McDaniel Foundation and kicks off at the beloved No Label Brewing Co. in Old Katy. Participants can choose between a timed 5K or a 1-mile family-friendly walk, with festivities starting and ending at the brewery, known for its vibrant community vibe and family-friendly atmosphere.
“This will be our 11th year, and the date is set for February 28, 2026,” shared Stephanie McDaniel, Graeme’s mother and CEO of The Graeme McDaniel Foundation. “Graeme’s Run will be full of fun activities for everyone! We know everyone loves a good fun run, especially one that is close to home and brings awareness and funds to such a great cause.”

The event was born from unimaginable heartbreak. Graeme McDaniel was just two and a half years old when he passed away in 2015 due to complications from severe congenital heart defects. In his memory, the McDaniel family created The Graeme McDaniel Foundation to fund critical CHD research and support heart families navigating similar journeys.
Graeme’s Run has become one of Katy’s largest grassroots races, growing year after year through strong community engagement and support. Last year’s 10th annual event drew over 1,800 participants and raised an astounding $200,000. Organizers anticipate even more families, neighbors, and sponsors will rally together in 2026 to further the cause.
Graeme McDaniel, whose short life has left an indelible mark on CDH research. The upcoming run promises a day filled with activities for all ages: live music, food and drinks from generous local restaurants, face painting, raffles, and family-friendly fun in a festive atmosphere. Thanks to a wide range of local sponsors and community partners, much of the event’s offerings are donated—ensuring more of the proceeds go directly to lifesaving work.
“After losing our heart warrior to congenital heart defects, we decided to have a family run/walk to celebrate our angel and make a difference,” said McDaniel. “The continued support of many giving sponsors makes Graeme’s Run a success.”

Since launching, The Graeme McDaniel Foundation has raised more than $1.8 million for CHD research. These funds support top-tier institutions including Texas Children’s Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, as well as collaborative studies between UTHealth Houston and Stanford University. The Foundation also provides direct assistance and resources to heart families facing the overwhelming realities of CHD.
Registration for the 2026 race is now open at graememcdanielfoundation.org/register. Participants are encouraged to register early to ensure a spot—and a commemorative run shirt. Teams are also welcome, with fundraising incentives and GMF swag available for top fundraisers.
As Katy continues to support this homegrown movement, the event has become much more than a race—it’s a community ritual, a celebration of life, and a rally for continued hope.
