Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show Auction Sets New Record, Surpasses $1.2 Million in Student Support

February 17 2026

For generations of Katy families, the Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show and Rodeo has been more than a tradition — it has been an investment in local students. This year, that investment reached an unprecedented milestone.

At the conclusion of the 2026 Katy ISD Livestock Show and Rodeo, the annual livestock auction generated a record-setting $1.2 million in student support — the highest total in the event’s 83-year history. For students who have spent months raising animals before and after school, on weekends, and through holidays, the moment was both emotional and affirming.

The milestone reflects not only hours of preparation in barns and classrooms across Katy ISD, but also the unwavering support of Katy families, local businesses, alumni and longtime buyers who filled the stands and bid generously to back the next generation of agricultural leaders.

“More than 600 of our students proudly showcased projects that reflected months of hard work, perseverance and parent and community support," said Katy ISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski. “Every auction bid and every add-on is more than a contribution, it’s a belief in our students’ work ethic, responsibility and future success.”

By the Numbers: 2026 Katy ISD Livestock Show and Auction

A total of 687 student exhibitors participated in this year’s livestock show. Of those, 161 students earned the opportunity to advance to the live auction — a distinction reserved for those who place in their respective categories.

Add-on sales, which allow community members to financially support students whose animals were not purchased during the live auction, remain open through Monday, February 23 at 5 p.m. Final totals are expected to increase as additional contributions are received.

For many Katy ISD FFA families, the add-on process ensures that every student’s months of commitment to animal care, training, and agricultural education are recognized.

A Weeklong Celebration of Katy’s Agricultural Roots

The weeklong rodeo celebration began with the Best Buddies Special Rodeo and continued with livestock shows, competitions and community events that showcased the talents and dedication of hundreds of Katy ISD FFA students.

Participants presented projects ranging from broilers, rabbits and poultry to goats, lambs, swine and steers. Each project represented months of hands-on learning — from nutrition and health management to showmanship and public speaking — skills that extend well beyond the arena.

Now in its 83rd year, the Katy ISD Livestock Show and Rodeo supports FFA programs across the district and serves as a stepping stone for students preparing to compete at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and pursue future agricultural, business and industry careers.

For Katy residents searching for information about the Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show results, 2026 Katy Rodeo winners, or how to support local FFA students, this year’s event demonstrated both growth and strong community engagement.

Why This Record Matters for Katy

For homeowners, local business leaders and families across Katy ISD, the $1.2 million auction total signals more than a successful event — it reflects a community that continues to prioritize youth development, leadership training and agricultural education.

FFA programs teach responsibility, financial literacy, animal science, public speaking and entrepreneurship. The livestock auction directly funds student projects, scholarships and future competition opportunities, while reinforcing Katy’s long-standing agricultural heritage.
