Katy Gears Up for 'Tip A Cop' Nights at Texas Roadhouse in Katy to Support Special Olympics Texas
A heartwarming community tradition is returning to the Katy area this July, inviting residents to enjoy a hearty meal with a heartfelt mission. On Wednesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 24, Texas Roadhouse at 20840 Katy Fwy, Katy, TX 77449 will once again host “Tip A Cop”, a spirited fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Texas, where local law enforcement officers will serve as guest waitstaff for the evening.
The event is part of a long-standing partnership between Texas Roadhouse and Special Olympics Texas, designed to raise funds and awareness for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Officers from area departments will don aprons instead of uniforms, serving tables and collecting tips — not for themselves, but for a cause that continues to inspire unity and inclusion across the region.
“Tip A Cop” is more than just a fun night out. Donations raised during the event go directly to year-round sports training, competition, and health programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities throughout Katy and Greater Houston. These funds also help build positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Special Olympics Texas, a nonprofit founded in 1969, serves nearly 58,000 athletes statewide. The organization offers a wide variety of athletic, health, and leadership programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities, empowering them to discover new strengths and become leaders both on and off the field.
The driving force behind “Tip A Cop” is the Law Enforcement Torch Run®, a global grassroots campaign that began in 1981 in Wichita, Kansas. Today, it’s the largest public awareness initiative for Special Olympics, with officers worldwide carrying the symbolic “Flame of Hope” to Games at every level — from local meets to the international stage.
Katy’s Tip A Cop event will also honor local Special Olympics athletes who will be in attendance as guests of honor, cheering on the officers and greeting guests. Attendees are encouraged to donate generously during dinner or contribute online if unable to make it in person.
Whether it’s through a meal or a moment of connection, the community’s support ensures that athletes in Katy continue to thrive. As Special Olympics Texas reminds supporters: “Your kindness doesn’t go unnoticed — we appreciate you!”
