Judson ISD Summer Meals Program Returns for 2026, Offering Free Breakfast and Lunch for Children Across the Community

Judson ISD Summer Meals Program Returns for 2026, Offering Free Breakfast and Lunch for Children Across the Community

June 01 2026

For many families, summer means a break from the classroom—but it can also mean the loss of reliable school meals. To help bridge that gap, Judson Independent School District (JISD) is once again providing free summer meals to children throughout the community.

The Judson ISD Summer Meals Program offers free breakfast and lunch to any child under the age of 18, helping ensure local students continue to have access to nutritious meals while school is out of session. The program serves families across the district's communities, including Converse, Kirby, Live Oak, Universal City, Selma, and surrounding areas.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to support student well-being during the summer months and reduce food insecurity for families who may rely on school meal programs during the academic year.

No Registration Required for Children Under 18

Children do not need to be enrolled in Judson ISD to participate. However, there are a few important requirements:

  • Meals are available to any child under 18.
  • The child must be present to receive a meal.
  • There is no curbside meal service.
  • Meal service will not be available on June 19 and July 3 at participating sites where noted.

Families looking for additional meal locations outside of JISD can also call 211 or text FOOD to 304-304 for information about nearby summer feeding programs.

Why the Summer Meals Program Matters

Programs like the Judson ISD Summer Meals Program provide more than just breakfast and lunch. They help families stretch household budgets during the summer, ensure children continue receiving healthy nutrition between school years, and create an important support system for the community's youngest residents.

With multiple locations spread across the district and meal service extending through much of June and July, families have several opportunities to access assistance close to home.

What Families Should Know

Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the meal schedules carefully, as operating dates and closure days vary by location. Arriving during the designated serving times will help ensure children receive meals without delay.

For additional summer meal locations anywhere in Texas, families can call 211 or text FOOD to 304-304.

As summer gets underway, the Judson ISD Summer Meals Program serves as a reminder of the district's continued commitment to supporting students and families beyond the classroom.
