Jonathan’s The Rub Expands to Bridgeland, Bringing Family Tradition and Bold Flavors to Cypress

January 29 2025

For Jonathan Levine, food has always been about more than just great flavors—it’s about family, community, and bringing people together. That’s why his beloved Houston restaurant, Jonathan’s The Rub, is set to expand once again, this time to Bridgeland’s Village Green in Cypress. Construction on the new location is scheduled to begin in early March, with an expected opening in October 2025.

The new restaurant will be located at 20215 Bridgeland Creek Parkway, Suite 200, adding another 5,594 square feet to Levine’s growing culinary empire. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, this means more opportunities to experience the bold, eclectic flavors that have made Jonathan’s The Rub a Houston staple for over 15 years.

A Restaurant Built on Passion and Tradition

For Levine, cooking isn’t just a career—it’s a calling. Self-described as “the oldest line cook in Houston,” he opened Jonathan’s The Rub in 2008 with a simple yet ambitious vision: to serve exceptional food in an inviting, family-style atmosphere. His kitchen is an open one—literally. At each location, diners can see, hear, and smell the magic happening behind the scenes as Jonathan and his team prepare every dish with precision, heart, and a touch of nostalgia.

The restaurant’s signature spice blend, “The Rub”, was born out of over 100 days of experimenting with flavors, balancing spicy, salty, sweet, and savory notes. It’s a philosophy that extends beyond the seasoning itself—“The Rub” represents the perfect blend of passion, tradition, and culinary innovation that defines the restaurant.

With locations in Memorial Green, Campbell Place, and East End, Jonathan’s The Rub has built a loyal following of food lovers who return for favorites like Prime Ribeye, Maryland Crab Cakes, Lobster Tacos, and Cajun Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. Now, Bridgeland residents will have a chance to make their own memories at this cherished Houston establishment.

Bridgeland: A Thriving Community Welcoming a Culinary Staple

The arrival of Jonathan’s The Rub in Bridgeland marks another milestone for the rapidly growing Bridgeland Central district, a 925-acre urban hub developed by Howard Hughes Corporation. Village Green, where the restaurant will be located, is currently under development as a 70-acre retail and dining destination, with the first phase featuring a 100,000-square-foot H-E-B that opened on October 30, 2024. Additional 28,000 square feet of restaurants and retail will follow in spring 2025, with more business announcements on the horizon.

As Bridgeland continues to attract families, businesses, and major employers like Chevron U.S.A. Inc., which recently acquired 77 acres in the area, the demand for upscale dining experiences has never been higher. Jonathan’s The Rub will bring not only incredible food but also a sense of warmth, familiarity, and hospitality—something that Levine and his family take pride in fostering at every location.

Looking Ahead: A Taste of What’s to Come

As the restaurant prepares for its Bridgeland debut, locals can look forward to a menu that celebrates diversity and bold flavors, featuring influences from classic American, Italian, Gulf Coast, and Pan-Latin cuisines. Guests will enjoy hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, house-made pastas, and an extensive wine list that boasts over 200 selections. Whether stopping in for a hearty brunch, a lively dinner, or a relaxing cocktail at the bar, Jonathan’s The Rub is set to become a go-to gathering place for Cypress residents.

For Levine, the expansion is not just about opening another restaurant—it’s about continuing a legacy. And for the people of Bridgeland, it’s an opportunity to experience Houston’s rich culinary culture, served with a side of genuine hospitality.
