Harris County MUD 102 Extends Colonies Neighborhood Center Pool Season Through Oct. 4
Families looking for relief from the Greater Houston area’s lingering summer heat will have more time to cool off at the Colonies Neighborhood Center pool this year.
During its July 27, 2026, meeting, the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 102 Board approved extending the pool season from Labor Day through Sunday, Oct. 4. The pool will operate on Saturdays and Sundays during its regular posted operating hours throughout the extended season.
The decision gives residents four additional weekends to swim, gather with neighbors and enjoy an amenity supported by the District. The pool’s previously announced 2026 season was scheduled to end Monday, Sept. 7.
More Time to Enjoy a Community Amenity
For families with children, residents planning weekend activities and neighbors simply hoping to escape the heat, the extended Colonies Neighborhood Center pool schedule provides another local recreation option close to home.
Harris County MUD No. 102 purchased the Colonies Neighborhood Center in 2023 to support property improvement and promote the safety, health and welfare of District residents. The facility, located at 15003 Yorktown Colony Drive in Houston, is open for public use and community enjoyment.
The Board said it hopes residents throughout the District’s communities will use the additional weekends to cool off and enjoy the neighborhood amenity during the continued hot weather.
Regular pool rules, admission requirements and posted operating procedures are expected to remain in effect during the extended season. Pool operations may also remain subject to weather and staffing conditions.
Private Pool Parties May Be Available
Residents interested in hosting a private swim party may also request use of the pool during non-operating hours.
Private parties are dependent on lifeguard availability and must be arranged through Swim Houston Pool Management. The company provides guarded private events at neighborhood pools it manages and asks residents to submit an inquiry before making any payment or finalizing plans.
Residents can request a date or obtain additional information through the Swim Houston pool party inquiry form. Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee availability, and families should wait for confirmation from the pool management company before proceeding with party arrangements.
What Residents Should Know
The extended Colonies Neighborhood Center pool season will run on weekends only from after Labor Day through Oct. 4, 2026. The pool will be open Saturdays and Sundays during regular operating hours.
Residents planning a visit should watch Harris County MUD No. 102 communications for posted schedules, weather-related closures or additional instructions.
