Fall into Art and Culture: Concerts, Exhibits, Día de los Muertos & More at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts
The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is in full bloom this fall, offering a vibrant season filled with art exhibitions, musical performances, hands-on workshops, and cultural celebrations — all with the warm, community-centered spirit that has made the museum a beloved destination in northwest Houston.
Tucked along Cypresswood Drive in the Champions area, the Pearl Fincher Museum is a gem of Greater Houston and a cultural cornerstone of Harris County. As the only fine arts museum outside the Houston city center, the Pearl brings the transformative power of the arts to residents across the region — and does so with free admission for all.
Must-See Fall Exhibitions
This season, art lovers can explore two compelling exhibitions on view through January 10, 2026.
In the Main Gallery, “A Curated Life: Selections from the Collection of Andy Moran” presents 47 impactful works from the private collection of Andy Moran and his late wife Mary Lou Chester. Beginning their journey in 1971, the couple amassed a rich collection of pieces by African-American artists, many of whom studied under legendary Texas Southern University professors Dr. John Biggers and Carroll Harris Simms. The exhibit includes works by Dr. Biggers, Kermit Oliver, Edsel Cramer, Julian Kyle, Linda Hinojos, and Earlie Hudnall, Jr.

In the Cole Gallery, “The Maker’s Muse: Contemporary Photography from the Artists of the American Society of Photographers” offers a dynamic visual experience with 60 works spanning landscapes, portraits, and abstract imagery. Both exhibitions are free and open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Events and Workshops for All Ages
The Pearl is also hosting engaging events to complement the photography exhibit, including:
-
Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m.: A free artist talk featuring Houston photographers Maryanne Keeling, Aileen Harding, and Joe Glyda.
-
Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.: “Cell Phone Magic! Create Art with Your iPhone” — a Snapseed workshop led by Aileen Harding. Tickets are $39 and available at pearlmfa.org/events.
Concerts to Light Up the Galleries
On Saturday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m., the museum will present “Saturday Jazz with Andy Moran” in the Main Gallery. The free concert, set against the backdrop of Moran’s exhibited collection, will feature Tex Allen and the Sunshine Friends — a musical blend of trumpet, piano, violin, and flute. While admission is free, registration is encouraged.
Then on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 3 to 5 p.m., the Pearlformance concert series continues with “Travel the World: A Musical Journey,” featuring Roger Keele on piano and vocalists Rose Kearin and James Silva. From opera to musical theater, it’s a globe-spanning celebration of sound. Tickets are $20 for Pearl members and $25 for the general public.

Día de los Muertos Celebration: Nov. 1
The Pearl’s much-loved Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration returns for its fifth year on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly event includes a community ofrenda, children’s activities, artisan market, face painting, and cultural performances — including Itzcoatl Tezkatlipoka dance, Ballet Folklorico, and live music by David Austin.
Visitors are invited to wear traditional costumes and bring photos or mementos for the public ofrenda. Local artists will offer handmade goods like watercolor prints, jewelry, ceramics, and florals for sale. Full details are available at pearlmfa.org.
School of Art: Classes and Creativity
The second session of fall classes at the Pearl’s School of Art begins October 27, offering courses for youth and adults in digital design, ceramics, watercolor, fashion accessories, and more. One-day workshops — including “Surrealist Vocabulary” and “Airbrush Expressions” — offer a creative outlet for every schedule. Course details and registration are online at pearlmfa.org/school-of-art.
Community Programs and Volunteer Opportunities
The Pearl also partners with the Houston Alzheimer’s Association for Creating Together, a free monthly program for individuals with early-onset dementia and their caregivers. The next session will be held Monday, Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to noon and includes a private gallery tour and hands-on art project in a calm, welcoming environment.
With the fall season in full swing, the Pearl is also calling on art lovers and community members to volunteer as docents. These trained guides help bring exhibits to life for school groups and visitors of all ages, and enjoy being part of the Pearl’s mission to make art accessible to all.
