Donald Lawrence Named Cypress Park High School Head Football Coach and Campus Athletic Coordinator
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD has named Donald Lawrence as the new campus athletic coordinator and head football coach at Cypress Park High School. With nearly two decades of experience in Texas high school athletics, Lawrence brings a deep coaching background, a passion for student development, and a strong connection to the CFISD community.
Lawrence replaces longtime head coach Greg Rogers, who led the Cypress Park Tigers through seven seasons of growth and development on the field. The transition signals a new era for the Tigers football program, with a focus on leadership, character-building, and competitive excellence.
A Proven Track Record Across Texas High School Athletics
Coach Donald Lawrence's career spans 18 years at the high school level, with roles ranging from offensive coordinator to strength and conditioning leader. Most recently, he served as the head football coach and boys’ campus athletic director at Clear Lake High School, a position he took in 2023.
Lawrence began his coaching journey as an offensive line coach at Brownsville Porter High School (2007–2009), followed by a multi-term tenure at Langham Creek High School, where he held roles including offensive coordinator, strength and conditioning coordinator, and head track coach. Additional stops included A&M Consolidated High School, where he coached the offensive line (2011–2012), and Pearland High School, where he served as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator (2019–2022).
His leadership earned him recognition in 2023 as a recipient of the prestigious U.S. Marines Semper Fi Coach Award, honoring coaches who model honor, courage, commitment, and leave a legacy of impactful leadership.

Lawrence holds a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Lutheran University, a Master of Education from Abilene Christian University, and a principal certification from Lamar University—credentials that support his vision of developing student-athletes both on and off the field.

Building the Future of Cypress Park Athletics
CFISD’s Director of Athletics, Virginia Flores, praised the hire, citing Lawrence’s leadership, experience, and community-oriented vision as key factors in the decision.
