Cypress Springs Sophomore Named CFISD Student of the Week for Academic and Athletic Excellence
At just 16 years old, Jared Hagger, a sophomore at Cypress Springs High School, is already setting the bar high as a scholar, athlete, and student leader. Recognized as this week’s CFISD Student of the Week, Hagger is being celebrated not only for his academic success and athletic talent but for his dedication to community service and personal growth.
A distinguished honor roll student and a varsity football player, Hagger manages to balance rigorous coursework with a packed schedule that includes track and field and involvement in the Cypress Springs Leadership Council. To date, he has completed more than 40 hours of community service, demonstrating a commitment to giving back that matches his drive on the field.
“Being part of the Leadership Council has taught me how important it is to set an example for others,” Hagger said. “It’s not just about what you do in the classroom or on the field—it’s about who you are when no one’s watching.”

Hagger's favorite class is U.S. History, a subject he finds especially engaging thanks to his teacher, Mr. Mondesier. “My favorite class is U.S. History because of the interesting conversations we have in class,” he said. “Also, Mr. Mondesier is a great and funny teacher who also knows football.”
Despite his many responsibilities, Hagger makes time for downtime like any other teenager. He enjoys watching movies and shows—especially "The Boys", which he praises for its “crazy plot twists”—and has a soft spot for Marvel’s Venom. “Venom is just a funny character. I like how the movies mix action and humor,” he said.
When he’s not studying or practicing, you’ll likely find Hagger on YouTube, his favorite app, or listening to his go-to track, “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar featuring H.E.R. “Football, the internet, and music—I don’t think I could live without those three things,” he said with a laugh.

His ambition is clear: to earn college football scholarships that will pave the way for a free education while allowing him to continue playing the sport he loves. “I want to keep growing, keep learning, and make sure I get to play at the next level,” he said.
Hagger draws inspiration from his parents and football role models like Cam Ward and C.J. Stroud, admiring their perseverance and rise through adversity. “My parents inspire me every day,” he shared. “I look up to Cam Ward after hearing his story and seeing him climb from the University of the Incarnate Word to a top-five team in the country. Also, C.J. Stroud because of the things he has accomplished.”
With his dedication to sports, education, fitness, and technology, Hagger is a well-rounded teen making the most of every opportunity Cypress-Fairbanks ISD has to offer. As he looks ahead to the future, his work ethic and positive attitude are paving the way for continued success both on and off the field.
