March 05 2025

The City of Katy Parks and Recreation Department has been recognized with two prestigious awards from the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) for its excellence in innovative programming. The department earned both the East Region Innovative Program Award and the Lone Star Programming Achievement Award for its highly successful Taylor Swift Ultimate Karaoke Night, which took place in Historic Town Square in April 2024.

Recognition for Creativity and Community Impact

Each year, TRAPS honors cities that demonstrate exceptional efforts in parks and recreation through creative and impactful events. The Taylor Swift Ultimate Karaoke Night stood out among nominees for its originality and the enthusiastic response from the Katy community. The event drew a large crowd of fans of all ages, celebrating the music of Taylor Swift in an engaging and memorable way.

Due to its overwhelming popularity, the City of Katy has announced the return of this event with Taylor Swift ERAS 2.0, scheduled for April 5, 2025. The encore event will give Swift fans another chance to sing along to their favorite hits in the heart of downtown Katy.
