Bobby Pulido Bringing Tejano Music Legacy to Katy for First-Ever Performance at Texas Rodeo Saloon
Katy’s Tejano music fans are preparing for a major summer concert event as award-winning singer Bobby Pulido is scheduled to perform for the first time ever at Texas Rodeo Saloon on Saturday, July 25.
The announcement has already generated excitement across Katy and the greater Houston area, especially among longtime Tejano music fans who grew up listening to Pulido’s signature blend of traditional Tejano rhythms, heartfelt ballads, and modern country influences.
The 21+ concert at Texas Rodeo Saloon marks a significant moment for the Katy entertainment scene, bringing one of Tejano music’s most recognized names to a venue known for live music, dancing, and community nightlife. Doors are scheduled to open at 8 p.m., with tickets and table reservations going on sale Thursday at 10 a.m.
For many local residents, the event represents more than just a concert. It reflects the continued growth of Katy’s cultural and live entertainment offerings while celebrating a music genre deeply rooted in Texas history and identity.
A Tejano Career That Helped Shape a Generation
Born in Edinburg, Texas, Bobby Pulido grew up surrounded by Tejano music. His father, Roberto Pulido — widely known as “El Primo” — is considered one of the genre’s most influential figures.
Pulido’s career took off in the mid-1990s after recording the song “Contigo” with his father. What began as a personal family recording unexpectedly became the launch point for a career that would span decades.
In 1995, Pulido released his debut album Desvelado, whose title track quickly became a defining Tejano anthem on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. The success of the album helped introduce a younger generation to Tejano music during one of the genre’s most commercially successful eras.
Over the years, Pulido released a series of well-known albums including Enséñame, Llegaste a Mi Vida, El Cazador, Zona de Peligro, and Para Que Baile Mi Pueblo. Songs such as “Se Murió de Amor” and “Le Pedire” became staples on Tejano radio stations throughout Texas and beyond.
His music career has earned him numerous honors including Tejano Music Awards, Premio Lo Nuestro recognition, Furia Musical awards, and a Latin Grammy win in 2022 — nearly three decades after his debut album first introduced him to audiences.
More Than Music: A Familiar Name Across Texas
Beyond the recording studio, Pulido has remained a recognizable public figure throughout Texas and Mexico. His performances at major Latin music festivals including Pal Norte, Arre, and Bésame Mucho helped introduce Tejano music to wider audiences while keeping the genre visible in an evolving music industry.
His crossover appeal also extended into television, with appearances in Mexican telenovelas and variety programs. Multiple appearances on People en Español’s “Most Beautiful People” list further elevated his profile during the height of his music career.
Now, Pulido’s name is drawing attention beyond entertainment as well. Earlier this year, unofficial election results showed the Tejano singer winning the Democratic nomination for Texas’ 15th Congressional District.
Pulido, a lifelong South Texan and small business owner, has spoken publicly about issues affecting Rio Grande Valley families including healthcare costs, immigration policy, education funding, agriculture, and water infrastructure. His campaign messaging has focused heavily on bipartisan leadership and practical solutions for South Texas communities.
Still, for many Katy-area residents planning to attend the July show, the focus remains on the music and the nostalgia attached to it.
A Big Night for Katy’s Tejano Music Community
Tejano music has long held a special place across Texas, blending Mexican folk traditions with polka, country, and contemporary influences. Events like this continue to connect generations through music that carries deep cultural and family significance.
For Katy residents, Bobby Pulido’s upcoming performance also highlights the area’s growing role as a destination for regional Latin music acts and cultural events.
Texas Rodeo Saloon has increasingly become known for bringing live entertainment to western Harris County, and Pulido’s appearance is expected to draw attendees from across Katy, Cypress, Houston, Richmond, and surrounding communities.
With tables expected to sell quickly and longtime fans eager to hear classic hits live, the July 25 concert is shaping up to be one of the summer’s most anticipated Tejano music events in the Katy area.
