The Katy African American Heritage Society will once again bring the community together this summer for the 2026 Katy Juneteenth Celebration, a free family-friendly event honoring heritage, freedom, local history, and community connection in the heart of Katy.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Woodsland Park, located at 443 Danover Rd., Katy, TX 77494, the annual Juneteenth celebration will feature a parade, live entertainment, food trucks, vendors, cultural activities, and opportunities for residents to reflect on the historical significance of Juneteenth in Texas and the enduring legacy of Katy’s historic Danover community.
The event begins with the Juneteenth Parade at 11 a.m., followed by festival activities continuing through 3 p.m. Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs, family members, and friends for one of Katy’s growing community traditions celebrating African American heritage and local history.
This year’s theme, “Honoring Heritage. Celebrating Freedom, Building the Future,” reflects the organization’s mission to preserve Katy’s African American history while fostering education and community engagement for future generations.
The event continues to shine a spotlight on the historic Danover community, one of Katy’s oldest African American settlements founded shortly after emancipation. Organizers say the celebration serves not only as a Juneteenth observance, but also as an opportunity for longtime residents and newcomers alike to learn about the families, churches, businesses, and traditions that helped shape the Katy area long before its modern suburban expansion.
