Waller County Residents Urged to Register for CodeRED Emergency Alerts

July 21 2026

When severe weather, wildfire danger or another public safety emergency develops, every minute matters. Waller County officials are encouraging residents and business owners to make sure they can receive critical information directly from local emergency management and law enforcement agencies by enrolling in the CodeRED Community Notification System.

The alert service helps the Waller County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the Waller County Sheriff’s Office quickly distribute urgent information to people who may be affected. Alerts may include evacuation instructions, severe weather warnings, wildfire notices, road closures, missing-person information and other public safety updates.

For families, commuters, farmers and business owners across Waller County, registering now can help eliminate uncertainty when conditions change quickly.

How to Sign Up for Waller County CodeRED Alerts

Residents and businesses can enroll through Waller County’s secure, customized Community Notification Enrollment page at:

https://accountportal.onsolve.net/wallercountytx

The enrollment system allows users to add or update their contact information so they can be included when county officials send an alert. Mobile phone numbers, unlisted numbers and TDD/TTY communication requirements can be entered.

Because phone numbers and addresses may change over time, residents who previously registered may also want to review their information and confirm it remains current.

Signing up is especially important for households that no longer maintain a traditional landline. Adding a mobile number helps ensure emergency messages can reach residents wherever they are, rather than only when they are at home.

CodeRED Mobile App Offers Location-Based Notifications

Waller County residents are also encouraged to download the free CodeRED Mobile Alert app for iOS and Android devices.

The app can be downloaded at:

https://codered.crisis24.com/lp/mobile-alert-app-download

CodeRED by Crisis24 sends mobile push notifications based on a subscriber’s GPS location. That means users may receive relevant public safety alerts while at home, driving through another community or traveling elsewhere in the country, provided they are within a participating CodeRED jurisdiction.

This location-based feature may be particularly helpful for Waller County residents who regularly travel between communities for work, school, shopping or family activities.

What the CodeRED App Provides

The CodeRED Mobile Alert app is free to download and allows subscribers to choose the types of notifications they want to receive.

Messages may include written information, audio instructions and a map identifying the affected warning area. The app also provides an ad-free interactive map with color-coded icons designed to help users quickly understand where an alert applies.

Customizable settings allow users to establish a personal warning radius, view optional weather information and enable audible hands-free notifications while driving.

The app can also provide alerts to visitors traveling through participating communities, extending its usefulness beyond a person’s home address.

Why Emergency Alert Enrollment Matters in Waller County

Waller County includes growing residential communities, rural properties, farms, highways and open land where emergency conditions may affect different areas in different ways. A storm, wildfire or road closure that creates an immediate concern for one part of the county may have little impact elsewhere.

CodeRED allows emergency officials to target notifications to specific geographic areas instead of relying only on broad public announcements. That can help residents receive instructions that are more relevant to their location.

No alert system replaces personal preparedness, however. Residents should continue monitoring trusted weather sources, keeping emergency supplies available and following instructions from public safety officials.

Wildfire Preparedness Resources Available to Homeowners

Along with registering for emergency notifications, Waller County property owners can review wildfire preparedness guidance from the Texas A&M Forest Service.

The agency’s “Prepare Your Home for Wildfire” resources include information about reducing combustible vegetation, creating defensible space around structures and identifying conditions that may allow fire to spread.

Wildfire preparation guidance is available at:

https://tfsweb.tamu.edu/PrepareYourHomeforWildfire

Even small steps—such as removing dry leaves near a home, trimming vegetation and keeping access routes clear—can help firefighters and homeowners respond more effectively when wildfire conditions develop.

What Waller County Residents Should Do Now

Residents are encouraged to register every household phone number that should receive emergency messages, confirm that the address connected to each account is correct and download the CodeRED app for additional location-based alerts.

Business owners should also consider enrolling workplace contact information and reviewing emergency communication plans with employees.

Taking a few minutes to register before an emergency can help Waller County families receive clearer instructions when decisions must be made quickly.
