Two CFISD Teachers to Represent District in Region 4 Teacher of the Year Competition
Wells Elementary School teacher Molly Maddux and Cypress Woods High School teacher Laura Anderson have been named Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (CFISD) Teachers of the Year and will now advance to the Region 4 Teacher of the Year recognition program, where they will compete for regional and statewide honors.
Both educators were recognized as Teacher of the Year at their respective campuses before earning districtwide distinction. They will be honored at the 28th annual Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF) Salute to the Stars ceremony on March 6 at the Berry Center, where CFISD will celebrate 100 outstanding teachers, paraeducators, and support staff for their dedication to students.

Maddux and Anderson will move on to the Region 4 Education Service Center Teachers of the Year Ceremony on August 5. From 40 regional winners, six finalists will be selected, with two ultimately advancing to the Texas Teacher of the Year competition. One finalist will represent Texas in the National Teacher of the Year program.
Molly Maddux: CFISD Elementary Teacher of the Year
Maddux, a third-grade reading, language arts, and social studies teacher at Wells Elementary, comes from a family of educators who instilled in her a love for teaching from an early age. Growing up in CFISD, she was inspired by teachers who genuinely cared about their students and delivered high-quality instruction, shaping her passion for education. Now, as a teacher herself, she feels privileged to give back to the district that nurtured her own learning.
"Receiving this recognition is an incredible honor that fills my heart with immense joy," Maddux said. "I am truly living my dream."

Laura Anderson: CFISD Secondary Teacher of the Year
Anderson, a health science teacher at Cypress Woods High School, is committed to preparing students for careers in healthcare. Her passion lies in mentorship and equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed beyond the classroom. Through her work, she aims to inspire the next generation of medical professionals while fostering a strong educational foundation for future success.
"Teaching is more than a profession—it is a commitment to lifelong learning, mentorship, and making a meaningful impact," Anderson said. "I am grateful for the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare by empowering the next generation of professionals."

Recognizing Excellence in CFISD
The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF), a nonprofit established in 1970, supports CFISD educators and students through scholarships and recognition programs. This year, the foundation will provide more than $900,000 in scholarships, contributing to over $13.4 million awarded in the past 55 years.
Maddux and Anderson’s journey toward Texas Teacher of the Year will continue at the Region 4 recognition event in August. If selected as regional winners, they will advance to the state competition, with the chance to represent Texas at the national level.
