Teen Craft Club, Story Time, Study Hall and More at Your Local Libraries This Week

Your local libraries have lots of fun, engaging activities coming up this week for all ages. Check out this lineup of free programming and get plugged in!

The Cinco Ranch Branch Library is open on Monday from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday closed. Conveniently located at 2620 Commercial Center Boulevard in Katy, your Cinco Ranch Branch Library is the perfect place to spend a few hours learning and exploring.

The newest addition to the Fort Bend County Libraries family, Fulshear Branch Library, is open on Monday from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Thursday from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM, Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday closed. Fulshear Branch Library is located at 6350 GM Library Rd, Fulshear, Texas 77441.

AARP Tax Assistance @ 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Representatives from AARP will assist in the preparation of income tax returns.
  • Bring the following items to your appointment: photo ID; Social Security card(s) for self, spouse, and all dependents; last year's tax return; W-2, 1099s, and any other compensation received in 2023; unemployment compensation statements; and any other documents necessary to complete your return.
  • Income tax forms are no longer available at the libraries, but you may use the libraries' computers and printers to download and print the forms from the IRS website, www.irs.gov, during regular library hours. A library card is needed to use the printers, and the cost to print is 10¢ per black-and-white page.

Break-In Bags for Teens @ 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Do you love puzzles, riddles, and codes? Love to try to solve any mystery that comes your way? We’ve got just the thing for you! Students in grades 9-12 are welcome to sign up for one of our 20 Break-In Bags for Teens!  Each bag is filled with candy and other small prizes, but before you can reap the rewards, you have to solve the puzzle! Figure out the answer to a few riddles, plug the correct code into the lock, and break into the bag to get your loot. Registration is required. Working on a craft? Bring it to the Fulshear Branch Library! If you don’t have a craft to work on, a DIY project will be provided. Registration is required for those needing DIY projects.
 
Pajama Night Story Time: Rhyme Time @ 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Stories, songs, and action rhymes for families with children of all ages. This program will conclude with an age-appropriate craft activity. Pajamas and blankets are welcome!

Mother Goose Time @ 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM

Mother Goose Time is a 30-minute multisensory activity time designed for pre-walkers from 0-12 months of age. Mother Goose Time includes rhymes, finger plays, and lullabies designed for early educational development. This program has limited attendance and can only accommodate up to 25 infants.
 
Stories, songs, and action rhymes for families with toddlers aged 1-3 years. This 30-minute program will conclude with an age-appropriate craft activity.
 
Nifty Needlers @ 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Fulshear Branch Library | 6350 GM Library Rd, Fulshear, TX 77441
Do you like to crochet, knit, or sew? Bring your yarn, strings, and needles to Fulshear Branch Library and let’s thread together! Nifty Needlers meets the third Tuesday of each month. All skill levels are welcome. No registration is required.
 
Preschool Story Time: Rhyme Time @ 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM

Stories, songs, action rhymes, and a movie for families with preschool children aged 3-6 years. This 45-minute program concludes with an age-appropriate craft activity.
 
Pajama Night Story Time: Rhyme Time @ 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Stories, songs, and action rhymes for families with children of all ages. This 30-minute activity takes place at the library. Crafts will be available at the end of the program.
 
Sewing by Hand Club @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Join us for this short and sweet workshop as a part of our Sewing by Hand Club and learn the decorative art of Appliqué. Using a needle and thread, students will learn how to make an abstract or representative spring floral motif with fabric. Build your technical skills and learn a new way to express yourself! Limited supplies available. Materials are provided by Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. High school students are invited to join this advisory council.  Attendees can earn volunteer hours and enhance their college application or resume while helping their community.  Registration is not required.
 
Attendees will learn about Claude Monet and the Impressionism movement by painting nature scenes from provided images. We'll provide the supplies, you bring the creativity! This program is recommended for children in grades K-5.
 
After School Break @ 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Established in 1947 by the Share-a-Book Club, the Fort Bend County Libraries have shown consistent growth and innovation. From the opening of the first library in 1948 to the latest construction of the Fulshear Branch earlier this year, the Fort Bend County Libraries system is comprised of twelve branches across Fort Bend County, successfully adding and renovating numerous branches including the notable George Memorial Library.
