Taylor HS 2023 Graduate, Girl Scout Launches Project Homebound 2023

July 19 2023

Meet Abby! This Taylor High School 2023 graduate is on a mission to help in her community by providing donated pet chip readers. Here is her story and how you can help.

My name is Abby, a driven and compassionate 18-year-old Girl Scout who is going to college soon. I have been a Girl Scout for 12 years and to end my times as a Girl Scout I am doing my Gold Award project, I have a profound dedication to making a positive impact in the world. My passion for animals and their well-being has led me to undertake an incredible Girl Scout Gold Award project centered around promoting responsible pet ownership. (If you don't know what the Gold Award is, it’s like the Boy Scout Eagle Award.)

With a firm belief in the importance of microchipping pets, my project aims to educate and empower pet owners to take proactive measures to keep their furry companions safe. By encouraging the microchipping of pets and equipping rescuers and first responders with microchip readers, I am determined to enhance the chances of lost pets being swiftly reunited with their families.

The root of my project is the genuine love and understanding of the bond between humans and animals. With a heart full of compassion, I recognize the anguish that pet owners experience when their beloved companions go missing. I aspire to alleviate this pain by ensuring that every lost pet has a better chance of finding their way back home quickly and safely.

Driven by my passion for animal welfare, I am determined to create a lasting impact. I actively engage with the community, spreading awareness about responsible pet ownership and the significance of microchipping. By championing this cause, I hope to foster a community where every pet is valued and protected.

Join me on my inspiring journey as I work tirelessly to make a difference. Through my Girl Scout Gold Award project, I am transforming my passion into meaningful action, leaving a lasting legacy of responsible pet ownership and reunions filled with joy and relief.
