Step Up for the Troops: Join the 5K, Pack Care Packages, and Celebrate at District 249 with Boots For Troops

January 26 2026

Runners, walkers, and patriots of all ages are invited to come together in honor of America’s military heroes at the Boots For Troops Miles For Our Military 5K Run/Walk, taking place Sunday, February 1, 2026, at District 249 in Tomball. This heartfelt community event goes beyond fitness—it's a way to directly support deployed service members with care packages, custom boots, and morale-boosting programs.

Boots For Troops, a Tomball-founded nonprofit now celebrating more than a decade of service, is known for sending what they proudly call “The World’s Greatest Care Packages” to deployed troops across the globe. These aren’t your average military mail—they’re personalized, packed with items each recipient has requested, including a brand-new pair of boots selected just for them.

This year’s 5K, held on a custom-designed track at District 249, located at 23238 TX-249, Tomball, TX 77375, promises to be an unforgettable day full of movement, music, and meaningful impact.

Celebrate With Purpose: Care Package Party & After-Party

At 3:30 PM, the day’s mission takes a hands-on turn with a Public Care Package Packing Party, where volunteers will assemble 29 care packages destined for deployed service members. These packages aren’t just about supplies—they’re about sending love from home.

After the final medal is awarded, the celebration continues with an after-party featuring ice-cold draft beer, live music, and community fellowship, reminding everyone why they came: to uplift those who serve.

Hydration stations, snacks, and refreshments will be provided throughout the event by Boots For Troops.

Why Every Step Matters

Each mile walked or run supports Boots For Troops’ broader mission to empower the morale and mental well-being of military members and their families. In addition to its flagship care package program, the nonprofit also operates:

  • Honor Our Heroes Program – offering emergency financial support and service dog sponsorships
  • Travel Assistance Program – funding airfare for junior enlisted members during emergencies or holidays
  • Jimmy Rogers Military Spouse Scholarship – helping military spouses pursue higher education

Founded by Tomball native Jimmy Rogers, who was inspired to launch the nonprofit while serving aboard a Navy ship in 2015, Boots For Troops continues to grow thanks to grassroots support and a deeply personal mission. Since its inception, the organization has delivered over 5,600 custom care packages and raised hundreds of thousands in support of military families.
