Spring ISD Advances 2022 Bond Projects with Facility and Safety Improvements Over Summer 2025
As students return to classrooms this fall, Spring Independent School District (Spring ISD) is celebrating tangible progress made this summer on projects funded by the voter-approved 2022 Bond. From early construction activity at new district facilities to planned safety and systems improvements across campuses, the work reflects a community-backed investment in long-term success.
“The transformative work completed this summer through Bond 2022 is more than just infrastructure, it is a promise to our students and our community,” said Superintendent Dr. Kregg Cuellar. “Every new classroom, every updated space, and every safety upgrade reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence. This year, we step forward with purpose, showing exactly who we are: We are Spring—together in culture, together in accountability.”
The $850 million bond package, approved by voters in November 2022, includes three major propositions:
- Proposition A: Facility improvements, including a complete rebuild of Spring High School and renovations at several campuses.
- Proposition B: The construction of the new EPIC (Education, Performance and Instruction Center).
- Proposition C: Technology upgrades districtwide.
Spring High School Rebuild Underway
Progress at the new Spring High School site was among the most visible this summer. With land now cleared and grading underway, early paving and infrastructure work has begun. The project team continues to collaborate closely with district leadership to ensure the new campus reflects current enrollment trends, instructional needs, and long-term campus vision.
The rebuild of Spring High School is one of the flagship projects of the 2022 Bond and remains on schedule, with construction expected to accelerate through the fall and into 2026.
EPIC Center Moves Forward
The EPIC Center—Spring ISD’s future hub for fine arts, athletics, and career-technical education—also entered initial phases of construction this summer. While exact milestones vary by site, work included foundational preparation and pre-construction activity coordinated in compliance with Harris County permitting and safety guidelines.
Both the Spring High School and EPIC Center projects are among the largest capital investments in the district’s history and are intended to support future student growth and academic opportunity for decades to come.

Districtwide Safety and Infrastructure Enhancements
In addition to new construction, the district continued work on planned security upgrades across several campuses. These include improvements such as secure vestibules, upgraded surveillance systems, fencing enhancements, and controlled-access features to better protect students and staff. While specific campuses and quantities were not disclosed, district leaders reaffirmed that safety remains a top priority in every phase of Bond 2022 implementation.
“Every project we see taking shape—from new construction to critical safety upgrades—reflects our community’s unwavering investment in our students’ future,” said Board Vice President Natasha McDaniel. “We take great pride in responsibly managing these resources and even greater pride in knowing that, together, we are creating schools where every child has the opportunity to thrive.”
Facility Reliability Projects Continue
Several campuses also began work this summer on HVAC system replacements, roofing projects, and building performance upgrades. These improvements are designed to support indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and long-term facility sustainability.
Though full details were not publicly listed, the district’s 2022 Bond Dashboard indicates that mechanical and structural upgrades are being phased across multiple schools, with completion timelines staggered into 2026.
Additional Renovation and Planning Projects
Renovation planning also progressed for facilities such as Reynolds Elementary, which is expected to receive interior upgrades in phases throughout the academic year. Design development continues for updated learning spaces, media centers, and flexible instruction zones.
At the Sheila Jackson Lee Family and Community Engagement Center, the district has begun a comprehensive renovation effort, starting with the demolition of an older pool house structure. Planned improvements include new parking configurations, security features, and updated meeting and office spaces to support the district’s family engagement mission.
Looking Ahead
Spring ISD’s 2022 Bond was approved with a strong focus on student safety, modern learning environments, and equitable infrastructure investment. As construction moves forward into fall 2025, the district remains committed to transparency, community collaboration, and timely delivery.
