Across North Harris and Montgomery counties, thousands of families rely on local nonprofits for everything from food assistance and healthcare to youth services, education, and support during life's most challenging moments. Thanks to a recent investment from the Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc. (JLTW), many of those organizations will have additional resources to expand their reach and strengthen services in the year ahead.

The Junior League of The Woodlands recently awarded a total of $63,000 in community grants to 18 nonprofit organizations serving the region, funding projects designed to improve the lives of local residents and address some of the area's most pressing needs. The grants represent more than financial support—they reflect a continued commitment to building stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities throughout North Harris and Montgomery counties.

This year's grant recipients include Candlelighters Houston, Child Advocates of Montgomery County, Cy-Fair Helping Hands, Hands Of Justice H.O.J., Hope Beyond Bridges, Humble Area Assistance Ministries, Interfaith Community Clinic, Love Fosters Hope, Meals on Wheels Montgomery County, Mercy House Global, Montgomery County Food Bank, Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, Project Beacon Texas, Reading is Revolutionary, The Run for Jeev Foundation, Splendora ISD Education Foundation, The Woodlands Children's Museum, and YES to YOUTH Montgomery County Youth Services.

Supporting Organizations That Serve Local Families

For many residents, the organizations receiving funding are familiar names that provide critical services every day. Whether delivering meals to seniors, supporting children in foster care, providing medical care to uninsured patients, addressing food insecurity, or offering educational opportunities, each organization plays a unique role in strengthening the social fabric of the region.

Among the recipients, Hands of Justice highlighted the significance of the award and the broader impact of the organization behind it.

"We are absolutely thrilled and deeply honored to share that Hands of Justice has been chosen as a recipient of a community grant from the incredible Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc. (JLTW)! To every member, leader, and supporter of Junior League of The Woodlands—thank you for believing in our vision, investing in our survivors, and locking arms with us to turn trauma into real-world independence. We are stronger together!"

The organization also praised the League's longstanding investment in local communities, noting the substantial volunteer efforts contributed by its members each year.

Cy-Fair Helping Hands, another grant recipient, emphasized how the funding will help advance its mission of serving individuals and families facing homelessness and hunger across Northwest Houston.

" We are honored to be part of the incredible group of organizations that the Junior League of The Woodlands selected as grant recipients. This grant will strengthen our programs and help us continue bringing Hope to the Homeless and Hungry across Northwest Houston."

A Legacy of Service Across the Region

The grants are part of a much larger story of community investment by the Junior League of The Woodlands. Established in 1990, JLTW has grown into an organization of nearly 600 Active, New, and Sustaining Members dedicated to advancing women's leadership while creating meaningful community impact through volunteer service, collaboration, and training.

The organization serves communities throughout Conroe, Cypress, FM 1960/Champions, Humble, Katy, Kingwood, Magnolia, Montgomery, Spring, Tomball, Willis, and surrounding areas. Its work focuses heavily on improving outcomes for women, children, and families through direct service, leadership development, community partnerships, and charitable giving.

According to the organization, members collectively contribute more than 31,000 volunteer hours annually. Based on national volunteer valuation estimates, those hours represent more than $1 million in value to the community each year. Over more than three decades of service, JLTW reports a total community investment of approximately $4 million throughout North Harris and Montgomery counties.

The organization's mission aligns with the broader Junior League movement, which began in New York City in 1901 and has grown into one of the world's largest and most enduring volunteer leadership networks for women. Today, the Association of Junior Leagues International connects more than 112,000 women across 296 communities in six countries.

Why These Grants Matter Locally

Community grants often provide nonprofits with flexible funding that can be used to launch new programs, expand existing services, purchase needed equipment, or reach more people in need. For organizations operating in rapidly growing communities like The Woodlands, Conroe, Cypress, Spring, Tomball, and surrounding areas, that support can make a significant difference.

As North Harris and Montgomery counties continue to experience population growth, demand for social services, healthcare access, educational support, youth programming, and food assistance continues to rise. Investments such as these help local nonprofits respond to those evolving needs while ensuring that resources remain available close to home.

The grant program also reflects the collaborative approach that has become a hallmark of the Junior League of The Woodlands. Guided by values including community, service, leadership, collaboration, empowerment, respect, and inclusion, the organization seeks to create lasting change by working alongside nonprofit partners that understand the needs of local residents.

Looking Ahead

Over the coming year, residents may begin to see the impact of these grants through expanded programs, enhanced services, and new initiatives led by the recipient organizations. While each nonprofit's project may look different, the shared goal remains the same: improving quality of life for individuals and families throughout North Harris and Montgomery counties.

For the organizations receiving funding, the grants represent an opportunity to deepen their work. For the communities they serve, they represent another investment in the people, families, and neighborhoods that make the region strong.
