Shine Bright at Here Comes the Sun, Katy: A Block Party for Mental Wellness
Bright days lie ahead in May as Old Katy becomes a beacon for mental health advocacy with the first annual Here Comes the Sun, Katy. Scheduled for May 1, this family-friendly block party will roar into life at 908 Avenue B, Katy, TX 77493, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Katy's community will come together to showcase solidarity in mental wellness in an event that promises to be more than just a get-together. This initiative is a product of tireless work since January to elevate mental health advocacy, fueled by a passion for destigmatizing mental health.
Here Comes the Sun, Katy will feature an array of exciting activities that include a permanent jewelry station, Katy Crossing Icehouse mocktails, Southern Dough bites, a professional headshot/photo station, a delightful flower truck, petite dessert bar, boutique shopping, and chiropractic checks. Additionally, there will be raffle prizes and local businesses highlighting products that support mental health.
Elizabeth Westbrook, LMSW, psychotherapist with Here Comes the Sun Counseling in Katy, emphasizes the collective efforts needed to tackle the stigmas around mental health. "If we want to dispel mental health stigmas, it's going to take all of us," says Westbrook. “We invite everyone out for this Mental Health Month kickoff event that will leave you encouraged, educated, and energized to take next steps in supporting your mental wellness.”
Moreover, the event is not merely about raising awareness. It signifies a tangible commitment to change. The proceeds from the partners will be used to offset the costs of mental health services for those in need. The vision is to make quality mental health care accessible to everyone, irrespective of their financial status. This is the beginning of a larger initiative to foster something that transcends individual interests, and it is set to flourish with your support.
The message is simple but potent. Despite the darkness that often brings despair and isolation, Here Comes the Sun Counseling believes that there is always a dawn waiting to rise, symbolizing hope and healing. Together, the community can help this hope rise, reinforcing the belief that there is a light, comfort, and healing for all of us when we confront our pain and invest in ourselves.
Here Comes the Sun Counseling, the organizers of this event, is renowned for lighting the path to emotional well-being. Their dedicated team of professionals offers personalized therapeutic services that go beyond the norm. Rooted in a warm, non-judgmental, and supportive environment, their services help individuals, couples, families, and groups dealing with a variety of mental health concerns to discover a brighter tomorrow.
At Here Comes the Sun, Katy, your presence will make a difference. Join the Katy community in kicking off Mental Health Month and contribute to this cause by attending, sponsoring, or supporting the event.
"It's time for hope to rise, and it's going to take all of us to make it happen," said Westbrook.
