Rotary Club of Katy Donates $24,150 to Local Nonprofits

March 25 2024

Rotary Club of Katy, a long-standing fixture of the Katy community, issued another round of donations to nine local nonprofits totaling $24,150. Rotary Club of Katy's signature, annual events served as the source of this philanthropic achievement.

The Wild West Brewfest, Katy Triathlon, and Katy Rice Harvest Festival have all been instrumental in raising the funds that Rotary Club has been able to distribute. The Wild West Brewfest, with its tempting array of craft beers, the Katy Triathlon that challenges both body and spirit, and the Katy Rice Harvest Festival, which celebrates the town's rich history and culture, all serve as substantial fundraising avenues for the Club.

The beneficiaries of Rotary Club of Katy's generosity are local nonprofits that work tirelessly to improve the community. Hooks 2 Crook, which received $500, Feed the Hunger with a grant of $1,650, Katy ISD Legacy that secured $2,000, MADD and KCM each allocated $2,500, Relay for Life and Disaster Aid USA who received $2,500 a piece, PTSD Foundation of America, and Brookwood Community, which were each granted an impressive $5,000, have all been instrumental in sustaining and uplifting the Katy community.

These local nonprofits work on a range of crucial issues, from combating hunger to providing aid in times of disaster, to supporting individuals struggling with PTSD, to creating opportunities for people with disabilities.

The Rotary Club of Katy, part of the larger 1.2 million strong Rotary International Society, strives to support their local and international community, promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving women and children, and growing local economies.

Their ongoing commitment to community service and ethical practices is exemplified in their 4-Way Test of assessing fairness and beneficiality in their actions. The club operates along the Five Avenues of Service: Club Service, Vocation Service, Community Service, International Service, and Youth Service.

This donation is yet another example of their commitment to the welfare of their community and the world, demonstrating the power of collective goodwill channeled through service and contributions to the betterment of all.
