Rotary Club of Katy Awards $25,000 in Grants to Support Local Charities

July 29 2024

The Rotary Club of Katy once again underlined its mission of "Service Above Self" with its recent presentation of $25,000 in grants to six local charities. This display of philanthropy took place at a luncheon at The Club at Falcon Point, reinforcing the club's essential role in community involvement.

The Rotary Club of Katy, established in 1946, is part of the worldwide network of Rotary International, an organization boasting 1.2 million members across more than 32,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas. With its diverse group of over 80 business and professional men and women, the Katy club meets weekly to plan activities and fundraisers for Rotary causes and ideals, all the while fostering camaraderie among members.

The local charities rewarded with this year's grants were Post It Love ($1,000), Keturah’s Haven ($2,000), Child Builders ($2,500), Art Reach ($5,000), The Boaz House ($5,000), and Eyes On Me ($10,000). Each one was selected for their commitment to serving the community and their alignment with the Rotary Club of Katy’s mission of altruism. The funds donated will support these organizations in their ongoing efforts to provide services and enrichment to the Katy community.

The financial resources enabling the Rotary Club of Katy's philanthropic endeavors are generated primarily from local events like The Wild West Brewfest, Katy Triathlon, and The Katy Rice Harvest Festival. These events celebrate the spirit of the Katy community while raising the necessary funds for the club's humanitarian work, including scholarships for Katy youth. As stated in the press release, "We appreciate our sponsors, their support and the support they show towards our events. Because of our sponsors, partners and patrons along with our club members, we continue to give back to those in need."

The club continually invites interested individuals to join their regular meetings to understand what membership in the Rotary means and how it contributes to both local and international communities—all while fostering a spirit of fun and fellowship. To learn more, visit katyrotary.com
