New Restaurant Concept Planned for Former Cured Space at The Pearl
When Cured closed its doors earlier this year, many San Antonians wondered what would eventually take its place.
Now, there’s an early clue.
Construction permits filed with the state show a new restaurant concept called Yosemite is planned for the former Cured space at 306 Pearl Parkway, Suite 101 in San Antonio’s Pearl district. The project calls for a nearly $1.6 million interior renovation of the existing restaurant and is scheduled to begin in August, with completion targeted for November 2026.
At this point, details about Yosemite remain scarce. No public information has been released regarding the restaurant’s menu, ownership, chef, or overall concept. What is known is that the project represents a significant investment in one of the most sought-after restaurant locations in Texas.
A New Beginning for a Space With History
For many San Antonio residents, this isn’t just another restaurant buildout.
The location was home to Cured, Chef Steve McHugh’s nationally recognized restaurant that helped establish Pearl as a serious culinary destination. After a 12-year run, Cured permanently closed in January when McHugh chose not to renew his lease.
The closure marked the end of an era for a restaurant that had become part of Pearl’s identity. Since then, locals have been waiting to see what would come next.
Now, Yosemite appears ready to write the next chapter.
Why Pearl Openings Draw So Much Attention
New restaurants open across San Antonio every year, but openings at Pearl tend to carry a little more weight.
What was once the historic Pearl Brewery has transformed into one of the city's most visited destinations, blending restaurants, retail, residences, offices, entertainment venues, Hotel Emma, and the Culinary Institute of America’s Texas campus into a walkable district that attracts both locals and visitors.
Food has always been at the center of that experience.
From longtime favorites like Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery and La Gloria to newer additions such as Isidore, Ladino, and Jue Let, Pearl has become a place where many of San Antonio’s most talked-about dining concepts debut or expand.
That makes every vacant restaurant space notable—and every new tenant worth watching.
A Major Renovation Is Planned
According to permit records, Yosemite will involve an interior renovation of approximately 4,870 square feet inside the Administration Building at Pearl.
The project has an estimated construction value of $1.593 million, with global architecture and design firm Gensler listed as the architect.
That level of investment suggests more than a simple cosmetic refresh. While no design plans have been publicly released, the scope indicates the incoming operator intends to put its own stamp on the space rather than simply reopen it as-is.
For Now, The Mystery Remains
The name Yosemite has sparked curiosity, but there is currently no confirmed information connecting the restaurant to any existing brand, regional chain, or nationally known concept.
In other words, the restaurant remains something of a mystery.
For foodies, that uncertainty may be part of the excitement.
Pearl has built a reputation for attracting unique concepts rather than cookie-cutter chains, and many of its most successful restaurants were relatively unknown before opening their doors.
Whether Yosemite follows that path remains to be seen.
What Happens Next
Construction is expected to begin Aug. 1 and continue through mid-November, according to permit filings. Additional details about the concept will likely emerge as work progresses.
For now, the biggest takeaway is simple: one of San Antonio’s most prominent restaurant addresses is getting a new tenant.
And in a city where food is deeply woven into the culture, that’s enough to get people talking.
