New Braunfels Resident Claims $20 Million Texas Lottery Scratch Ticket Prize

San Antonio / New Braunfels  /  San Antonio / New Braunfels
July 14 2026

A New Braunfels resident has claimed a $20 million Texas Lottery scratch ticket prize, turning a routine ticket purchase into a life-changing moment for an entire family.

The winning $20 Million Supreme ticket was purchased at H-E-B Plus, located at 2965 I-35 North in New Braunfels. The claimant chose to remain anonymous, but shared that the prize will be used to create greater financial stability for children and grandchildren.

“I’ve been playing Texas Lottery scratch ticket games for about 15 years. I love the thrill of the instant win!” the claimant said.

Winning Ticket Purchased at New Braunfels H-E-B

After scratching the ticket and uncovering the game’s $20 million top prize, the New Braunfels resident did not immediately trust what was on the card.

“My first reaction was, ‘Wow!’ After I scratched the ticket, I kept looking at it to make sure the numbers matched. I must have checked it a dozen times.”

The ticket marked the fourth and final $20 million top prize claimed in the $20 Million Supreme game, which has now been called to close. The scratch ticket game offered more than $829 million in total prizes, with prizes beginning at $150.

The overall odds of winning a prize of $150 or more were one in 3.49. Players who still hold winning tickets from the game have until Feb. 17, 2027, to submit a claim.

Prize Will Support Family’s Long-Term Future

For the winning family, the prize is expected to provide more than an immediate financial windfall. The claimant said the money will help eliminate debt and create educational opportunities for younger generations.

“I’m going to use the money to pay off our debts and invest in my grandchildren’s education. With this amount, the kids and grandkids should be set for life.”

That focus on family gives the New Braunfels lottery win a meaning that extends well beyond the ticket itself. For many local families balancing housing costs, education expenses and long-term financial planning, the claimant’s priorities reflect the practical decisions that can follow an unexpected prize.

H-E-B Food Store #694 may also be eligible to receive a $10,000 bonus through the Texas Lottery’s Retailer Bonus Program for selling the jackpot-winning scratch ticket.

Texas Lottery Revenue Supports Schools and Veterans

The New Braunfels win comes as the Texas Lottery continues operating under the administration of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees a broad range of licensed professions, industries and regulated activities across the state.

Since the first Texas Lottery ticket was sold in 1992, the organization has generated more than $42.8 billion in revenue for the state and distributed more than $98 billion in prizes to players.

A significant portion of lottery proceeds supports public education. Since 1997, the Texas Lottery has contributed more than $36.8 billion to the Foundation School Fund, which helps finance Texas public schools. Certain lottery proceeds also benefit the Fund for Veterans’ Assistance.

Since the launch of the first veterans-themed scratch ticket game in 2009, the Texas Lottery has contributed more than $303.7 million to programs serving Texas veterans.

The Texas Lottery offers scratch tickets along with draw games including Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto Texas, All or Nothing, Texas Two Step, Pick 3, Daily 4 and Cash Five. Players must be at least 18 years old to purchase tickets or enter promotional second-chance drawings.

Residents holding tickets from $20 Million Supreme are encouraged to check them carefully before the Feb. 17, 2027, claim deadline. The Texas Lottery also reminds players to play responsibly.
