Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Cy-Fair Helping Hands Recent Outreach
September 08 2022
Cy-Fair Helping Hands has been hard at work making a difference right here in your community over the last month. Rooted in their mission to lend a helping hand to struggling neighbors and bring hope to the homeless and hungry since 2010, their outreach touches the lives of thousands of people in the Cy-Fair region.
Here's a brief snapshot of how they have impacted the community recently, and how you can help make a difference in your community by supporting CFHH.
Back to School Bash
Cy-Fair Helping Hands' first annual Back to School Bash on Aug 6th was attended by almost 1,000 people. 586 children received backpacks and school supplies that day, and 1,110 students have received supplies and backpacks since then via our Food Pantry.
30 businesses, churches, and organizations set up games and activities for the children, Cypress Ranch Mustang Band performed along with the Cy-Ranch cheerleaders, plus hotdogs, ice cream, popsicles and more were enjoyed by everyone as the children received the supplies they needed to start the new school year off, ready to succeed!
Project Dash
CFHH's Food Pantry now utilizes DoorDash to deliver needed food to people with mobility issues. Senior citizens, people who are unable to drive due to illness, parents of multiple children under 5, and those with no transportation qualify for home delivery of their food, allowing us to increase our reach into the community.
DoorDash does not charge CFHH or the clients for this delivery. To learn more about this partnership, check out this article.
Homeless Outreach
CFHH's Homeless Outreach Teams visit the homeless in our community on a weekly basis. These visits allow CFHH representatives the opportunity to see who wishes to move into housing and evaluate what is preventing that from happening, in addition to seeing who will continue living on the streets.
For those choosing to remain homeless, Outreach Teams provide food, clothing, and other basic necessities for survival. Learn more about CFHH's homeless services, including homeless teen initiatives that serve CFISD students.
Looking Ahead
CFHH will be hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive that will deliver blessing boxes for those in need this Thanksgiving. With your help, we can assist those who need a helping hand this holiday season. Each box contains a full holiday meal and a $25 - $30 gift card for a turkey or ham. To learn more about this program, click the button below to view a flyer. Share with family, friends, neighbors and local businesses. Together, we can all make a difference.
With the holidays approaching, there are many more opportunities to be a part of CFHH's mission to spread joy, hope and a helping hand to people who are struggling with homelessness, hunger and hard times, right here in your community.
