MONOPOLY® Game Returns to McDonald’s with a Digital Twist and Big Prizes

September 30 2025

It’s official: one of America’s most nostalgic games is coming back to McDonald’s. Starting October 6, 2025, fans across the country will once again get to “peel and play” with the return of the MONOPOLY® Game at McDonald’s—and this time, it comes with a digital upgrade.

For the first time in nearly a decade, customers can collect both classic peel-off game pieces from favorite menu items and digital pieces through the McDonald’s app. That means double the opportunities to play—and more chances to win prizes that range from free food to cash, vacations, cars, and even a $1 million grand prize.

A Tradition Families Remember

For many, the McDonald’s MONOPOLY game is a memory-maker. “Our fans have been clamoring for the return of MONOPOLY at McDonald’s, and we’re thrilled to bring it back with a modern, digital spin,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s USA Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer.

That sentiment resonates with longtime MONOPOLY players who remember saving fry-box game pieces as kids. Now, parents who grew up with the promotion can share the excitement with their own children—adding a multi-generational twist to a family favorite.

Brian Baker, Senior Vice President of Board Games at Hasbro, noted, “This iconic promotion captures the same spirit MONOPOLY has always represented—bringing families and friends together for fun and connection.”

How to Join the Fun

Here’s how local families can get started:

  • Register in the App: Download the McDonald’s app, opt in to Rewards, and register for the game. Customers who pre-register between September 29 and October 5 earn 500 bonus Rewards points.

  • Order & Collect Pieces: Eligible menu items like the Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Egg McMuffin, and large fries come with either a peel-off physical piece or a digital piece when ordering through the app.

  • Peel and Play: Game pieces may unlock instant prizes like free food, Rewards points, or larger collectibles toward major prizes. Every piece also comes with a Bonus Play for a second chance to win, running through November 2, 2025.

Prizes include:

  • $1 million cash, payable over 20 years

  • 1 million American Airlines AAdvantage® miles

  • A 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

  • A $50,000 MONOPOLY GO! vacation package

  • $10,000 Lowe’s shopping sprees

  • Plus, plenty of free McDonald’s favorites like burgers, breakfast sandwiches, and snack wraps

Why It Matters Locally

While the MONOPOLY game is national, it’s easy to picture the excitement hitting close to home. Imagine a neighbor in Cypress, Katy, West Houston, Tomball, or Spring snagging a dream vacation or even landing the $1 million prize just from grabbing a Friday night dinner.

And because many prizes are instant-win menu items, families stopping in after a football game or grabbing breakfast on the way to school have a good shot at walking out winners. With 1-in-5 odds to win at the outset—mostly food prizes—someone in every community will likely get to enjoy the thrill.

Quick Facts

  • Game Launch: October 6, 2025

  • Bonus Play Ends: November 2, 2025

  • Deadline to Play Pieces: November 23, 2025

  • Where to Play: At participating McDonald’s restaurants and in the McDonald’s app

The Takeaway

After nearly a decade away, the MONOPOLY Game at McDonald’s is back, bigger, and more interactive than ever. For Houston-area families, it’s not just about the prizes—it’s about the fun of playing together and the chance to turn an everyday meal into something unforgettable.
