Lonestar Safety Fest Expands Mission with New Name, Bigger Reach, and Free Family Fun in Katy
What started in 2016 as a small gathering in a Katy movie theater parking lot is now one of the region’s most anticipated public safety events. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the newly renamed Lonestar Safety Fest will take over Typhoon Texas Waterpark, located at 555 Katy Fort Bend Rd, Katy, TX 77494—offering an expanded, interactive day of safety awareness, education, and family fun.
Formerly known as the Katy Area Safety Fest, the event’s new name reflects its broadened mission and growing partnerships with public safety agencies across the region. “This is still the same great event our community has come to love,” organizers shared in an April update. “We’ve just evolved to a name and look that match the incredible growth and support we’ve seen from first responders and safety organizations all over the area.”
A Regional Showcase of Safety Expertise
The Lonestar Safety Fest brings together a dedicated group of public safety and emergency response agencies from across the region, committed to creating a safer community. Participating organizations include local, regional, and state fire departments, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and other safety agencies—each showcasing their equipment, offering hands-on activities, and sharing valuable insights into emergency preparedness.
Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with first responders, learn about the vital roles these agencies play, and walk away with practical safety tips they can use at home and in the community. Live demonstrations, interactive displays, and educational presentations will highlight topics ranging from fire prevention to disaster readiness, making it an engaging experience for all ages.

Free, Accessible, and Family-Friendly
True to its mission of community connection, entry to the Lonestar Safety Fest is completely free, with no tickets required. Parking is also complimentary, and on-site attendants will guide guests for a smooth arrival. While all demonstrations and activities are free, attendees can enjoy food truck fare for purchase, featuring festival favorites and sweet treats.
Security is a top priority, with local law enforcement and event staff providing visible patrols, controlled entry points, and on-site first aid stations. Organizers aim to ensure a safe, family-friendly environment where guests can focus on learning and enjoying the day.
Volunteers at the Heart of the Festival
Behind the scenes, volunteers are the driving force that makes the Lonestar Safety Fest possible. Opportunities include event setup, assisting with safety demonstrations, guiding attendees, supporting exhibitors, leading children’s activities, and more.
“Our volunteers are the heart of the Lonestar Safety Fest,” organizers note. “Whether you’re setting up booths, welcoming families, or supporting our safety partners, you’re helping make our community stronger, safer, and more connected.”
