Local Non-Profit Offering Application Assistance for Struggling Homeowners

Are you behind on your mortgage, utilities, property taxes or HOA dues? The Texas Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program may be able to help. This program gives eligible homeowners grants to cover past due mortgage payments, up to three (3) months of future mortgage payments, property taxes, insurance, homeowner/condo association fees, past due utility payments, and up to three (3) months of prospective utility payments. Eligible utility payments include electricity, natural gas, propane, water, and wastewater. The program is administered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) with funding provided by the Homeowner Assistance Fund under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
Endeavors, a local non-profit agency, is providing assistance to homeowners with the application process who may be eligible for mortgage assistance through TEMAP with the following programs:
Mortgage Program
- Provides assistance to eligible Texas homeowners with qualified hardships to pay past due mortgage payments and, in some cases, up to three (3) months of future payments, including eligible amounts advanced by a mortgage servicer.
- Maximum assistance of $65,000 per household.
Property Charges
- Provides assistance to eligible Texas homeowners with qualified hardships to pay past due property taxes, property insurance and past due mortgage statement, property tax statement, insurance statement, and/or homeowner/condo association fees.
- Of the maximum $65,000 available per household, up to $25,000 can be used for property charge defaults.
Utility Payment Assistance
- Provides assistance to eligible Texas homeowners with qualified hardships to pay past due utility bills and up to three (3) months of prospective payments.
- Of the maximum $65,000 available per household, up to $10,000 can be used for utility assistance (inclusive of past due balance and prospective assistance).
- Eligible utilities include electricity, gas, propane, water, and wastewater.
