Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve: Learn to Paddle Close to Home

June 08 2023

It’s Great Outdoors Month! Did you know that the Harris County Precinct 3 Park Programs offers free paddling opportunities EVERY Wednesday afternoon at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve? Catch instructors at the canoe launch this summer from 4:00 to 8:00 PM to paddle Marshall Lake for a 1 hour time slot.

Pre-registration is required. Visit www.pct3.com/parks to register. Be sure to check out the canoe rules when registering to make sure everyone can safely experience the adventure.

Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve, also referred to as KMP, is an 80-acre property featuring Marshall Lake and includes paved roads and trails, fishing piers, unpaved natural areas, a canoe launch, covered picnic area, and a fire ring for group and camping activities. The canoe launch is available for non-motorized boats during regular park hours. Trails are open to pedestrians and bicyclists. Leashed pets are welcome, and there are pet clean-up stations located throughout the trails.

Educational programming and special events are offered regularly along with tailored programming for groups of 10 or more. Programs include scout activities, field trips tours, senior adult tours, recreational water activities, environmental education, wildlife viewing, and more. All pavilion use is first come, first serve, and must be present.

Call 713-274-4201 or email parkprograms@pct3.hctx.net for more information.
